Has good match options for single player to keep 1 person busy for a long while.Lacks multiplayer options and nobody is ever on line so multiplayer comes up short for deathmatches.I got a recent update for the patch no problems with download but there still bugs in the single player matchs but game play makes up for with all the in your face action along with a pretty good story line.Graphics are most certainly outdated but being 2006 release title we can grandfather the graphics as being pretty good for its time. The controls are somewhat difficult to control and the camara angle gets confusion at times when your in battle. One last thing I think this game had the right idea for trek fans but like many games it was put together to fast to make that corporate deadline and this game does not even come close to topping Star Trek Armada 1 & 2 I would give it a fair score to end this review.Read full review
The good: Ship modeling is excellent. The story is entertaining albeit short, and none of the missions are annoyingly difficult. The voice cast is a fun touch, though Shatner frequently sounds like he’s reading aloud for the first time. If you’re looking for a basic Star Trek console game with plenty of retro flair, look no further. The bad: The command interface is terrible. If you’re looking for strategy like Starfleet Command, you won’t find it here. Computer AI is fairly pathetic (I’d warp a ship away to repair it while my enemies would pursue the ship on impulse) and commanding your fleet can be downright frustrating. What little documentation there is has plenty of errors, and you’ll spend plenty of time trying to figure out which direction to point your ship to fire torpedoes.Read full review
What is it about Star Trek games? Great ideas and poor implementation. Are our expectations simply too high? Graphics are great. Story line is ok. Flying and fighting everthing from Archers' NX to Picard's' E and all the ships in between. The overall flight and fight is pretty simplistic. They were obviously on the right track. The draw back? Who was the goofball that forgot to include remappings of the controls? Your are stuck using A,S,D,Z,E,F, and R. That is it. No remapping. No choice. If you happen to be a left handed mouser as I am it is bassackwards! AI ships can do loops. Your ships cannot?!?! Its space! Flip, loop, sideslip! Come on guys. You rushed it to the shelves to quick! It is entertaining. Would I pay $39.99 or more for it? Nope, real glad I didn't! Don't spend more than $20 or you will be to mad to enjoy its good qualities.Read full review
I have played Star Trek Legacy for a few weeks now and overall I am impressed. The graphics are absolutely stunning and the game controls are easy to use. Where the game starts to run into problems is in the campaign mode. The story is inconsistent and rather dull. Its sort of a kill the bad guy and get a new mission to kill another bad guy. the game also seems to neglect Deep Space 9 and Voyager, while concentrating mainly on the original series and next generation. Even with those short comings, this game is a fine edition to the star trek arsenal of games.
I have not played through this game completely..The Romulans just will -Not- stop coming!..But in terms of the Fun Factor..this game is deffinitely worth playing..But I would not pay more than $19.95 for it..I was very fortunate and paid less than $10..There are a couple of patches so far on the Bethesda website..I will be installing those tonight..there are discrepancies between the book and the actual controls this is a bit frustrating..I would have liked to be able to save more than one game in the single player campaign..And I would have prefered to be able to see things through the viewscreen of the ship I am controlling instead of having to see my ship and miss some of what is going on..And it would be nice to be able to create a larger fleet than 4 ships..since the enemies have no such limitations..It is very cool that they got the actors form the different series to do some voiceover..I deffinitely suggest this title..but I am already looking forward to the follow on game :)Read full review
