"If someone is reading this...I must have failed." In my opinion, this is by far one of the best of the games in the NES universe. From the gameplay to the music, The Guardian Legend has embedded itself deep within a special place in my memories. It has truly captured my imagination. When Guardian Legend was stolen from me a few years ago, I felt like a piece of my soul had been taken from me, but now I own it again and I can finally breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that I can again partake in one of the greatest Nintendo experiences of all time!

Just a fun game to play. It is challenging and at times can be "Nintendo hard" but not so much that you feel the need to look for codes or anything.

This game came out of nowhere. I heard a little about it, but I really didn't know much about the game. When my friend showed up with it, I was surprised to see what a great game The Guardian Legend was. The graphics are nice, but the really nice worlds are the overhead flying levels. The are nicely detailed and the large bosses look great. The exploring levels tended to be a bit minimalist with detail. The music is really great. It has a great sci fi score that fits perfectly. The title theme is brillant and one of my favorite video game tunes. The gameplay is split up between overhead flying (ala 1942) and overhead exploring (ala Legend of Zelda). The real fun are the flying levels. The exploring levels are fun, but a little tedius. You really find yourself wanting to play the flying levels. I am glad that my friend brought over this game. It is one of the few things I'll ever credit him for. If you ever get the chance to try The Guardian Legend and are a fan of older video game, I would highly recommend you play it.Read full review
Guardian Legend is one of those games that is a cult classic, sitting in the shadow of more popular games like Metroid and Blaster Master, but easily surpassing them both in gaeplay and innovation. The secret to its playability is its simplicity, which goes hand-in-hand with its storyline. You are infiltrating a ship that is almost like a world unto itself, hiding the secrets of the race that created it before they were exterminated by five hostile alien tribes. You are a Robotech-like mecha, transforming between a humanoid form and a space fighter, trying to engage the self-destruct mechanism of this planetoid that is on its way to Earth. Some levels are pure arcade shooter fury, while the exploration levels give you the opportunity to find power-ups and a wide range of special weapons. It's enough to give a good challenge to any level of gamer and the replay value is incredible. The company that made it for the NES, Irem, is also responsible for Zanac and the R-Type series. If you know those games and don't have Guardian Legend, what are you waiting for??!!? If you have never heard of any of these things, then I suggest you give your imagination and video-game reflexes an awesome blast from the past! You'll wonder how you could have missed out on such an awesome game!Read full review
