This is the 2nd time I've purchased this product, because I rashly sold it after completing the story mode the first time. This game isn't very long (about 8-8 1/2 hours) and not much of an eye-turner graphically, though the graphics ARE pretty cool. This game has 4 difficulty levels, easy, normal, hard, and hero. This is a game worth buying, and I love the 1st person RPG aspect of it. I give this game a good 4/5 stars for being legit.
While I haven't had time to play it.. I have PLENTY of experience with DOOM, the game. and that's what this game is - an awesome doom-esque game for the DS, which none specifically was made for, in a DS cartridge. oh sure theres the GBA DOOM games, but theyre getting rarer and aren't DS specific.. that said, this is harder than DOOM, and less immersive perhaps. I do test all my games before I give a good rating at all however, and so I do know enough for this review - very D&D-like and complicated with surprise enemy attacks and a bleak fate for the protagonist win or lose, Orcs And Elves is definitely a must for the DS.. though they should have just ported DOOM's many iterations or boogerman or parasite ever or any other game they never ported to the DS for no reason..

Orcs & Elves takes a unique approach to both 3D First-Person and Role-Playing genres. If you are old (or cool) enough to remember Wolfenstein 3D, then you'll have a pretty good idea of the basic graphical perspective of this game - although Orcs & Elves uses a much more graphically modified version of the engine, which includes textures on the floors & ceilings, and many other enhancements. It's a cross between a turn-based RPG and a FPS. To move your character, you press the direction on the D-pad multiple times - you don't just hold "up" for example. You may also use the stylus & touchscreen for movement, but I found this to be a novelty feature. Each single movement by you, leads to a single movement by any enemies in the area. The same is true during battle: You swing your sword, they attack back, then after waiting as long as you want you may attack back or choose other options like healing potion, etc. The game is sort of like Battle for Wesnoth, but: single character, in a dungeon, first-person. If you're looking for a fluid FPS, this isn't for you. If you're looking for a strict (classic style) RPG, this probably isn't for you either. If your looking for something new, with a nice touch of of the above, then this is it!Read full review
I apparently did not review this game well enough before I bought it. After playing it for about six hours I put it back in the case and will resell it. I was under the impression this was a basic rpg but it really isn't. It is tedious,a one person shooter which repeats itself over and over in dungeons of various colors and design. Their is little to no interaction with other characters so much of the rpg element is missing. My brother in law also bought the game so we could play along together, his opinion was the same as mine and he traded it off for a more traditional peg. I would not recommend this game to anyone unless you honestly told them of it's content and play ability.
Pretty good game. Graphics aren't the best but it's on a DS. All in all it's a couple of great games!
