For this game's release date, it is quite a good title. The excitement when playing the game is at quite a high level to say the least, and even on a large monitor for the PC platform, the graphics are still quite stunning, though a bit dated in appearance for mid 2009. The storyline is nothing special, but what sticks out is the game play experience. The duck and cover system of the game is similar to that of Gears of War (not surprising; the game is made on the Unreal 3 engine, likewise to Gears). This type of game play feels quite smooth and well fitted for a shooter, and the first person perspective is well blended with the third through the cover system. One significant downside is the fact that the AI of this game is much less respectable in comparison to other games of this caliber. Although the graphics and game play are quite astounding, this hiccup in the coding can be quite annoying at times, and has cost the game's overall rating from an 'excellent' to be recessed to a 'good'. Besides the less than respectable artificial intelligence, for the price, this game is quite enjoyable and should not be passed up.Read full review
I bought the item because I'd lost my previously copy before even getting to play it, so I was fairly excited about getting a second copy for actual use. A bit of a letdown really, as I play games on a mid-range PC, and this game, like much of Ubisoft's stuff, wanted some serious processing power. Ubisoft games tend to have nice, even excellent graphics, but hardly awe-inspiring or (as I see it) worth the processing and video requirements. But back to the game: Playing through, I've noticed that much of the game centers on immediate acton; I wouldn't recommend wasting time by searching for a coherent plot. But if bangs-bangs and boom-booms are your thing, this is the FPS of choice for you!
Not to bad though I have seen a lot better graphics and realism in games like Farcry2, Fallout3, and such. Now if I can just keep from being shot I will be happy. I would recommend it but NOT for the store prices. Remember, ALL have sinned. Lied, stolen regardless of the value, lusted with our eyes which is adultery in the heart. We have all come short of God's expectations of us in order to go to Heaven forever and we ALL deserve Hell. However, God did not ever want us there and it is ONLY by our own rebellion that we will go there. So He (God) sent His only Son to Earth to pay for YOUR sins by dying for you. He took your place on that cross and He did not deserve it as He was sinless, the ONLY "person/God" that has been or ever could be. To be "SAVED" you MUST repent of your sins, turn from them and do them no longer. Put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation and read the bible and do what it says. NO amount of work you do can save you. It is by faith in Christ and God's grace alone. Have a blessed day.Read full review
The controls are easy to learn and use effectively. However, there are no "Hold to [action]" button binds - everything but sprinting is toggle (aiming, crouching). The game isn't so difficult that it's frustrating or unfair, but makes for a good challenge. The online play isn't that bad, it just needs more attention and action. There's so much to do as far as character customization, armament loadout, and achievements go; there's not a lot to it, but it goes on forever. An awesome and fun game to play anytime.
Though the Rainbow Six franchise has drifted far from it's strategy-based origins and some of the things that set it apart from the rest such as mission planning and free-roaming levels, this later addition to the Vegas title still manages to stand apart from most typical first-person shooters. It's intense close quarters combat and easy-access command prompts made this a fast-paced, visually stimulating, accurate portrayal of urban warfare. Once I got used to the commands which didn't take long I was deeply immersed in the stunning indoor and outdoor landscapes of Las Vegas and places elsewhere. I would definately recommend this game to anyone looking for the best of what close-quarters combat simulations has to offer.
