Endless Ocean is an a diving simulation game for Wii created by Arika, a Japan gaming studio. You will start the game by selecting the location of the diving area. The control is very easy to learn, basically you just need to point to the direction where you want to go (very simple isn't it). It's very relaxing, you can play it on your own pace. And there's no way that you can lose in the game. All the sea creatures will not be able to harm you. Thus no need to worry about sharks/whales/sting ray when you see them. In fact, later in the game you can capture the pictures of anything in the game. Akira did a very good job in graphics. Underworld graphics are great. First time you see the whale in the game, you can feel the 'WOW' factor. It's just that cool. In summary, if you are looking for a slow-pace, relaxing game then you should get this game. However, if you are looking for an action-adventure game, you will be dissapointed.Read full review
If you love dolphins, whales and other sea life, you should enjoy this game. If you want adventure, well-designed humans, battles, and puzzle-solving, this will put you to sleep. I recommend it for relaxing and learning about sea life. The music can get monotonous, but the soundtrack of Celtic Women-type songs by Haley Westenra is beautiful - to a point. You may find yourself using the generic soundtrack for your repeated underwater explorations. You will search for photo opportunities involving certain fish, check sea life migration paths, search for artifacts and - mostly - enjoy exploring an expansive underwater world. The short-duration human dialogue moments are cheesy and a little tiresome, but you can always leave your host and move forward to the bow and greet and pet seals, birds, penguins and other wildlife, including polar bears. These show up randomly. We play lots of RPG and puzzle games, but this one is simply relaxing. There is something just cool about latching onto a whale or dolphin and taking a ride through their world. But ya gotta really love sealife (and learning all about them) to make this a worthwhile purchase without getting disappointed there are no giant sharks to battle. Enjoy!Read full review
The game play seems a bit on the slow side for me. I got it for my 4 year old and he seems to enjoy it but cannot play it alone do to the substantial quantity of reading required in order to play the game. All three of my kids enjoy playing or watching the game. The freedom of the plot serves as a bonus for this age group. I think the fact that we actually have a saltwater aquarium with some of the same fish in the game helps promote their level of interest. However, due to the lagging plot and the somewhat boring music (yawn!), if I had rented the game before buying it, I would not have paid more than $20.00 for it. It makes an interesting screen saver for the TV, though.
This game is relaxing and definitely different from most of the fast paced wii games. Graphics are nice. Great learning tool for basic information on a variety of species. Wish it allowed more interaction with the fish instead of a finger poking at them. Would be nice to see aquatic life feeding etc. instead of just swimming around. Scenes could be better when diver gets to edge of boundary he just stops. Would be cool if it was also a fishing game during divers downtime as well as allowing diver to collect species. The "on the boat time" is kind of boring. Would be better if you could design a crew for the boat. I bought it and enjoy it because I like games having to do with underwater scenery and aquatic life - definitely recommend!
I bought this for the relaxation that everyone said about, its OK, if you like action packed games, or not a lot of, you know, the words, the game talking to you in writing, don't buy this. I personally don't like when it does that. You can focus on the sea life, and also touch the creatures, but, its not as exciting as what I have heard. Even though my game is in mint, new shape, I am not to interested in it. Neither are my children. So don't surprise your kids with this one, this is defiantly a relaxed, totally, relaxed game, I cant even call this a game, its more like a story and your in it. More for a adult looking for a relaxing mood, or something just to pass some time. Sorry Endless Ocean, but wow, its not that great.
