The sixth edition of the Baseball Mogul series includes over 100 seasons of stats, new sorting options, and expanded minor league control (influence rookie scouting and drafting). As General Manager, players can select any team from 1901 through 2003 and attempt to build a dynasty by controlling nearly every aspect of front-office baseball management including contract negotiations, trading, minor league scouting, free agents, stadium building, concessions, tickets, broadcasting rights, and more.
In Baseball Mogul 2004, players set daily lineups, consider injury and fatigue factors, utilize a myriad of statistic reports to follow individual player performances, establish on-field manager strategies, peruse box scores, watch play-by-play recaps, and read about the results in an enhanced news report featuring articles and headlines. Options include daily game management or setting the computer to simulate games for specific periods of time (weeks, months, half-season, and so forth). Players must pay close attention to finances as the bottom line can spell the difference between an also-ran and a perennial contender for the post-season and championship series.
All baseball teams for the past 103 years are represented, but players will have to manually change club nicknames since there's no MLB license. Actual player names are loaded from a comprehensive database containing the full range of historical statistics, and, in many cases, photographs of the players are provided. Additional downloads and upgrades are available at the official game web site along with one month of free play at Baseball Mogul Online (game purchase not required for the Internet version).
