Well, let's start this off with the fact that i started liking slipknot because of wait and bleed. once i heard that song i listened to this album and i bought it shortly after. this was years ago when i was in middle school. anyway, i re-bought the cd because i lost mine. i love this album. track 1-7426100027 is short and sweet. it's their dj - sid. just doing what he does - mix well! and it's a nice (dark) intro to the cd and what their about. uniqueness in many ways. just from track 1. track 2-(Sic) is...sick! it's so good. hardcore insane drums guitars bass...everything! nand the vocals from corey are great. it's mayhem but artwork as well. track 3-Eyeless is good but i feel that to each his/her own and its a hit or miss with this track. it's good and slipknot holds their ground with this track as well but all i have to say is that it's a good song in general. track 4-Wait And Bleed...okay...if you've been reading thus far, it's my favorite to this day. though owning the album you realize it's not their best song. it's great and it's a lot of poeples favorite song from slipknot but if you listen to their other songs you see that their is much more to them than just wait and bleed. but its a great track in whole.track 5-Surfacing, five is my favorite number so it's no surprise that surfacing is a favorite as well. surfacing is another thrashy metal song that not only gets you going but shows their talents as a 9 man band. track 6-Spit It Out is a very rap-ish type of vocals with screaming and metal hardcore with it. their dj- sid, shows his importance with the band in this song, most people may not notice it but without dj sid wilson slipknot would really be out of luck in many ways.track 7-Tattered & Torn is another track that i don't have much to say, it's good. listen to it, but it's just a smaller show of their skill as a band, nothing too special, but the lyrics say a lot. track 8-Me Inside is a song that shows that lyrical quality counts just as much as the other 8 men in the band with their instruments. track 9-Liberate is the anthem to get anyone going for any reason. listen to it, sick song! tracks 10-14 (10. Prosthetics, 11. No Life, 12. Diluted, 13. Only One, 14. Scissors) are all good and as i said with other tracks on the cd, i love the cd and each song has much to offer from lyrics all the way down. this was their first official studio album, mate.feed.kill.repeat. was their "first" album, but let's just stay on the topic of this album, trust me, get this album, or just listen to it from a friend or somewhere, it's worth your time.Read full review
This album was not made to sound like all of the lame bands out there! Every band at some time was or is trying to emulate another groups sounds. (like Iowa) In my opinion, this album is their best by far. In this album they werent trying to sound like someone else, this sound is REAL. I believe they dropped the ball on Iowa. It had a few good tracks, but I felt let down. It was supposed to sound sloppy, repetitive, and raw. It has loud, fastpaced, harsh, beats and rhythms and lyrics. Some say its way sloppy. I think all 9 members melt perfectly together in all of their different sounds. Ive heard many people say it sucks, its childish, no rhymes, no flavor. Thats because they bought it hoping it would sound like all their favorite bands... Well I'll tell everybody IT WONT SOUND LIKE ANYTHING YOUVE EVER HEARD BEFORE. Another point. Most people only like Wait and Bleed and Spit It Out. I find that funny because those are the only tracks ive heard play on the radio, those are the only ones everybody has heard at some point over and over, plus the radio is telling you that these songs are popular and fabulous. AND THOSE SONGS HAVE THE MOST MAINSTREAM SOUND TO THEM! You must play with an open mind. At first, listen to the entire cd, do not skip through if you hear something that sounds weird. Every track adds to the whole experience. This album is a knock to the side of your head and you better be ready for it.Read full review
I wanted this cd ever since I found out about it. I bought the 2nd release, the one without purity and frail limb nursery, and then heard of this one. It is a great cd with a lot of talent and some great songs. Joey is one of the best drummers ive heard in a while. The combo of Mick and James (even though you dont hear much from James on the disc, he joined the band late in the game) for guitars is a sign of great music chemistry. The scratches and samples of Sid and Craig are perfectly in place. Paul's brutally low tone really brings it all together in the end. And the sound of Shawn and Chris' added vocals and percussion really gets the beat going. It has so much emotion and raw power in the vocals alone, Corey's singing is extremely melodic and easily one of the best voices in hard rock ever, and he has a very aggressive yet eerily melodic screams out there today, it almost seems inhuman. The mainstream release is great, but this one is the one for all true slipknot fans out there. Purity and Frail Limb Nursery are worth the purchase alone. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!Read full review
This is their first CD, that if you have never heard of, then you MUST buy it. I've had this CD for over 5 years now and I still listen to it. This music was not the best music then, but now its what rock is all about. These guys were out of their class then and, up to this date there is not a band that comes close to their style. It's very fast pace and very diverse. For any rock fans, and any fans of the band that never got theur first album; this one is a MUST HAVE.
Read full review
