we received a hand me down TV from our family and it didn't have a stand, and we could not mount our TV to the wall due to the type of plaster in our home, but we assembled the stand and put it on top of a small table and it is great! when this stand is assembled the TV is low to the ground and you don't have much choice about height. You most likely need to put the stand and TV on a table you already have so that it won't be too low. Only complaint. Otherwise it's fine.

The only weird thing about this is that our TV has the cables coming out of the back and this covered most of the cable inputs/outputs. We had to mount this offset and not directly in the middle for this to work. Besides that, awesome stand!

Easy to install. I got this as a replacement for a factory stand. I think it took me all of 5 minutes to set this up for my 40" LCD. With the long neck, you can adjust the TV higher or lower... more customizable than the standard stand that usually comes with TVs.
