I love the look and feel of these clubs. The face is much smaller than my cavity back irons. I read where these clubs were for the low handicap player, which I am not. I also read an article that showed the contact area of high, mid & low handicap players using cavity back (larger face area) irons & blade style irons. The contact area for every level player was larger on the cavity back, where as the blade irons showed that the contact area was smaller. Which lead me to beleive that if I want to improve I needed to use a blade. I have wanted an iron that gave me more accuracy without a lose of distance and these have done that for me. My misses have not been as drastic with these irons & I am hitting the center of the face with regularity now. I still have my cavity backs because they helped me start to love this game. I think I am ready to use this type of club and seeing the results makes me feel I have made the right decision.Read full review
I have been playing with cavity backs for some time now and I was alway hesitant to switch over to blades. I finally did and was able to get a set of the CG1's at a great price and I tell ya...the design and technology in the club still feels better than todays clubs. I have played (not just tried...PLAYED) the slingshot OSS, cci's, Cleveland's Hibore set, adams idea OS set, and tried many others including blades but finally BOUGHT the CG1's...BEST Decision EVER! I have never been so accurate and confident in my shot. I didn't even need to get used to them. BUT I took this set seriosly and got fitted and regripped so I highly recommend you doing the same (regardless of club type...find the ones you love and gt fitted) -Rookie golfer - Denver, CO -Handicap - was around 20, now 10 with CG1'sRead full review
This club is the best feeling and easiest to hit on ruff, agents' short grain that is into you and on full shots and high flops. Once you get the feel of the distance for each swing, you will no longer worry about a chip over a bunker, or hitting out of one. I hit twenty shots out of a practice bunker, from soft sand and hard wet sand and every shot came out well.
