This drummer has played many kits over last forty years. Owned high end drums and inexpensive imports. So I have a base of drums to compare to. This new Yamaha kit is excellent. So it sits at the top with the best kits I have owned. These drums are light in weight, easy to move and set up. The tone produced with new ambassador coated heads is what I like, crack and rumble when struck. The finish of the wood is near flawless. Honey amber stain and clear finish show the wood grain, beautiful drums. People see these and think expensive. Research showed the new drum plant in China that Yamaha built is the most advanced in the world. They do look and sound great! And the price is low. Couple small down points. All the screws inside drums are a funky gray metal. Would like to see chrome. And the rims are very light and thin. Time will tell if this is an issue. So far the playing experiance is awesome. Don't hesitate best drum value under $1000.Read full review

Fantastic sound and finish. Shipped immediately. Packaged with great care. I have been playing drums over 50 years and I have to say that this set sounds better than any previously owned set.

Already had a Maple Tour from a few years ago - this as even better quality and its actually a step down, tone/response is very nice even with the stock heads - works for me. Order it as used and when received it seemed new like never even opened
