I collect FUNCTIONAL machetes, and use them about daily when I go out to salvage yards in search of classic car parts. I ordered this machete not having very high expectations. I mean, twenty bucks, right? I was just looking for something I could beat up and not feel bad about. Man was I surprised when it arrived this morning. The first thing I noticed was the grind. It's got a beautiful hollow grind that has been finished to a razor sharp edge. That being said, I wouldn't go trying to take down a tree with it simply due to the nature of a hollow grind, but it'll surely take down any overgrowth in your way with ease. Next, I noticed the rigidity of the blade. This is not some flimsy crap blade that's going to bend should you take a bad bounce off a limb or something. I'd guess the spine to be around 3mm thick, so it's got a great weight to it without being flimsy not too heavy. Feels great in the hand. Finally, the hardwood handle. When it arrives, it feels a bit chunky and doesn't really fit the hand comfortably (and I have big hands), but I see that as a bonus. There's plenty of material to carve out finger notches for a custom fit to your hand. I'd recommend sanding off the clear poly finish at the very least. Sweaty palms could make for an airborne machete with the finish it comes with. Overall, I hate to say it, but I place this machete in a class equal to or maybe even a little better than some of my Ontarios and SOGs! Just a really nice knife that you couldn't possibly be disappointed with. Especially at the price. Nothing but love for this thing.Read full review

A little too heavy to be swinging at brush and weeds but not strong enough to cut wood. The edge held up fine but the handle fell apart when I was cutting a branch about the size of a baseball bat. It’s not a full tang it is a SCISSOR tang which means if it fails your hand is gonna be the impact zone, not smart idea but seems decent beside that and the fact it broke soo easily

I like this knife! I gave it 5 stars for the looks alone. Wearing it across my shoulder via the strap makes me feel like a Zombie Killer. But it's beauty is a little superficial. It won't cut small weeds, just breaks them. And it won't chop wood, the edge won't sink in. But you can hack the greenery with wreckless abandon and make a fine mess. It needs a lanyard, as it slips easily out of your hand. I wish it had a metal loop guard and a better handle overall. The wood is sticking out and begging to be knocked off or broken. I can see it covered with duck tape or some other wrapping to get continued use. But I don't use it all the time for weeds and it looks great hanging on my wall.

So I literally just got this in the mail today. My first impression of it is how very well it's made. The blade is Very strong, Sharp and Sterdy. It's made with pins that are in the handle to reenforce the blade. The handle is heavy and feels comfortable when holding it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a machete to chop chrubs, branches, or to just be prepared in case of a zombie Apocalypse. My first initial thought was For 17 bucks how can I not need this? Hope this helped. 😀

I wasn't expecting much when I got this. Had read some reviews but wanted to come to my own conclusions. It's very sturdy and well made. It comes pretty sharp but put a finishing edge on it anyway. The handle feels good in your hand and comes with a decent carrying case. I would have no qualms taking this in to the jungle or even into combat for that matter. Spent many years in the jungle with a Bowie knife. Wish I had one of these instead.
