This radar detector is not as sensitive as some of the more expensive detectors but it has served me very well. It also will detect red light cameras, speaks to inform you that you are over the speed limit, it will detect police radar even before you can see the police! Some times it give an audible warning but then I see no police in sight, it may be detecting the K or X band of other cars, BMWs, Cadillacs etc.

I accidentally set a speed trap near my house and only compounded the problem each time I tried to clear it. I am afraid the police will be attracted to it and make it a point to write me a ticket. I wish it were a stealth type. It goes off at known traffic lights and speed monitors but I hasn't seen it identify police radar as yet.

I recently purchased this radar detector for my dad's new automobile. He purchased this same detector for his other vehicle and loved it..so I knew he would eventually purchase another for the additional vehicle, so I beat him to the jump getting it as gift. I own a max and they both detect what for what to me. The max clearly detects 4 miles straight shot. The max is a newer model. I'd pick a 9500i over max now though, because it doesn't block out false alerts automatically.. you can reset the default settings, but sometimes I'm lazy when it comes to all that. Most cops use ka band, in my area they are starting to use k band and mine recently blocked k band out passing near a store that was alarmed, so now I'll have to reset k band alert..Both are the best detectors I've ever had. If it detects just one cop for you ahead of time while speeding, it has already paid for itself.Read full review
Have multiple vehicles and already had one of these. The range is ridiculous. You think it might be a false alarm which I can't remember having for the longest time and finally, there's the man (keeping the roads safe I might add). This is a radar detector not a ticket detector (one that goes off when the police officer is standing at your door asking for your paperwork). As I said I already had one but, my Audi has red dash lights and looks like you're in the space shuttle at night. Looking at the blue display drove me nuts! In any event, I purchased the same one with a red display and can keep it in the car now as the blue display one can move around to other cars and my motorcycle.
