I love the compact and nimble setup of this Dyson. It has good suction and is perfect for our house full of hardwoods and area rugs. The ball design is just as agile as they advertise and I couldn't ask for more without it being Ferrari Red with a V8. Not sure how well it would do on heavily carpeted locations compared to it's bigger brother the DC25 (it has almost twice the suction), but for our basic needs, it is great. I would have liked the collection can to be a little larger and the reach hose is rather short. The power cord is on the short side also, but for a smaller apartment/house, you shouldn't have to change plugs more than once or twice. If you want something that goes almost flat to get under table and furniture, you are only going to get about 8-9" of clearance. All-in-all, if you have our hardwoods setup or need a powerful upright with limited space, this unit it perfect. If you have a larger home and lots of carpet, kids and animals, I would conisider the DC25 or higher.Read full review
I love Dyson products. The handy trigger on my regular "Ball" makes it so easy to empty.. it's not only about saving money because you never buy bags, it's also the easiest to empty vacuum, with the opening on the bottom and a finger activated trigger. Make no mistake. This is not your mainstream vac unless you have only scatter rugs, with wood or laminate floors. It is a miniature.. only a little bigger than the handheld. In fact, it uses the same attachment as the handheld. I got it because I live vertically. My townhouse is 4 floors. The smaller attachments on the mainstream vacs require a lot of back and forth motion on steps.. not fun when you have carpal tunnel. This vac did not get my excellent rating bacause it tends to stick when emptying, and getting into the right floor position so the beater bar will operate. I still love it, anyway. The Dyson is enticing. BTW.. all my Dysons would benefit from a long auto-retractable cord.Read full review
A friend of mine kept raving about her Dyson vacuum cleaner so finally I asked her to bring it over and let me try. It was amazing! It picked up all the pet hair and the canister was so full. I researched the Dysons and chose to go with the animal DC24 with the ball (my friend's did not have the ball). It has really been amazing. The suction is very powerful and picks up everything. My only complaint is when you go to take the canister off the vacuum, sometimes it releases the bottom and dust starts to fall out everywhere-which you have to clean of the vacuum and clean the floor again. I have learned to be very gentle when pushing the release button and then hold the bottom as I take it off. Other than that, it is awesome and I look forward to many years of using it.
I had heard great thinks about the Dyson so I bought one. It does a very good job of picking up dirt, lint, hair, etc. No complaints there. What I do not like is that the cord is very short and you cannot attach an extension cord. It will not reach across my bedroom even. The suction head (I guess you call it that, the wide, front part that sucks up dirt) is not very wide. This is good to get into small areas but if you have a large house to vacuum, it takes a long time and you must make 2 swipes for every one of the large head on my old vacuum. I guess it would all depend on how large your home is and what you needed a vacuum for if I would recommend this vacuum or not.
This review is based on 4 years daily use with rescue pets, laminate floors and area rugs. With all the hype on this product, plus I got a bit of a discount where I work, I thought 'why not?". The Dyson dc24 does a pretty good job on laminates with the agitator engaged. Not so much on carpet as you have to go over with multiple swipes and eventually it gets pretty clean. I can't reccomend it for kitty litter either because the agitator knocks the litter around a bit, and without the agitator engaged it has a tough time picking it up (but I'm extremely picky about this). I also have a Hoover Power drive Pet that outperforms this Dyson in every way for a fraction of the price, so my dissapointment with the Dyson is magnified. Emptying the cannister is a little dicey, but so are a lot of cannisters. I would say that if you don't have pets and/or aren't really picky about your floors then it will work fine, plus it's never been in the shop once, which I can't say about the Hoover.Read full review
