The DeWalt DW124 Right Angle Drill is the original super duty right angle drill. This drill was originally released as a Black & Decker unit in the 1980's to respond to the then dominate Milwaukee Goose-Neck right angle drills and Hole-Hawg folded right angle drills. Contractors, Especially plumbers needed more durability then the Goose-Neck drills yet still be more compact then the folded drills. This drill delivers the above mentioned properties in excellent form. At nearly 2 feet long you have great leverage, the beveled head is extremely compact. The recessed chuck and open space elminate pinch points. The two speed transmission (300 or 1200 rpm) has a clutch (set at 75 ft/lb torque) in low gear for additional saftey. It has a positive lock for the transsmion shift so it never pops out of gear. Using the bail handle is very comfortable and makes the drill easily controlled even when running the largest of bits, it is rated at 4-5/8" self feed and a massive 6" hole-saw rating. It uses an oversized 5/8-16 chuck mount so you don't have to worry about bending the chuck if the drill binds up. Note: there is a 8-Amp Type 1 (with metal motor housing) and a 11.5-Amp Type 2 (plastic motor housing). I recommend the Type 2, it uses the same proven gearbox as the old units but with nearly %50 more power. The biggest downsize to this drill is that it could use a variable speed or soft start system.Read full review

This drill Trumps the milwaukee Hole hawg. It is a good thing the drill has a clutch in low gear because there is no stopping it. It will run the largest of the self feeding bits without a sweat
