Great DVD player (high quality picture/sound and fabulous 3D), BUT the remote is so small (buttons so close) I have to use 2 hands (one just to cradle the remote in a steady position) to press the buttons with the tip of a fingerl from the other hand, and then sometimes press 2 at once or the wrong one, especially in the dark (with 3D glasses on)! The screen navigation buttons require the tip of a fingernail to get the right one pressed. Who designed this? Also, I find the FF and FR functions difficult to use. Example: if you press FF quickly it jumps to next title, if you press and hold it goes into FF play, if you press again to get faster FF play, but don't hold quite long enough, it jumps to next title. Then you have to find the tiny play button in the dark to go back to play (if you press the wrong one it jumps to beginning of title). A remote 2X in area with larger, better separated buttons for big American fingers, and a little more thought into button function algorithms, would make this player perfect! Also, remote uses coin battery. If bigger it could use 2 cheap AA cells with enough power to light up the buttons too.Read full review

Something is fishy with this product. The Samsung website says this model (UBD-K8500) has bluetooth; however, it does not. When I called into Samsung for help to connect my bluetooth keyboard, they told me it doesn't have bluetooth. If you expect to get bluetooth to connect a wireless keyboard, don't buy this one. With that being said, keyboards do work if they are wired up to the USB port or with a wireless USB hub like the Unify plug from Logitech. One other thing with the keyboard is that certain apps don't function with the keyboard. It's an app limitation as others work just fine with the keyboard to include the internet browser. Besides that, the model is great. The internet browser is nice, but I'm finding that I really don't use that as much as I thought I would. I mainly use it for Netflix. Netflix video playback is fast and I've had no problems with it. The quality of the DVD/blueray playback is good too. So far no complaints. Others have said that the remote it small. It's smaller than a normal remote but I have had no problems with that.Read full review

The picture quality with this 4K Blu-Ray player is fantastic. Every color is so vibrant, even standard DVD's look great with this player. There is barley a start-up time window with this player, just turn it on & it is ready to go not five seconds later. You don't have too wait a minute for it to load itself up. My only real complaint with this player is the remote, or rather the remotes fast forward and rewind functions. You can't just press a button to skip a little faster or rewind too hear a statement again. You press the fast forward, rewind, play/pause button or even skip a scene button and it will bring up an option on screen that you have to scroll with arrows on the remote to choose what you want to do. But beware the option screen will disappear after about 5 seconds, so if you want to rewind a bit because you got up for a minute it can be a bit of a hassle. Feels to much like trying to watch a movie with a play station or an Xbox even though the buttons are present on the remote. Overall great player with a poorly designed remote function.Read full review

Used/opened as described, but in nearly new condition and provided with the original packing. UHD discs look great but what surprised me the most is how much better standard blu-rays look on this player compared to an older unit I also have. I am using it with a 2016 Samsung SUHD TV and have the player connected to an input with HDR enabled. I can't say exactly why, but the result is visibly better contrast with standard and 3D blu-ray discs. Otherwise, it is a good Netflix and Amazon Video streamer, with excellent image quality. Still hoping for a Netflix HDR firmware update, but hopefully this will come soon.

Often, being an early adopter means waiting for the "new, improved version" to finally get everything right, but Samsung seems to have knocked it out of the park with their very first model. It works well, works easily and offers all the features I need, including optional sound boosting for voices and higher frequencies that us elderly folks really need. It DOES require a UHD TV with HDCP 2.2 to provide true 4K playback, but that is not the fault of the player… I had to trade in my old 4K TV with HDCP 2.1 for a 2016 model with HDCP 2.2 to get full access to UHD Blu-ray quality, but it was worth it.
