Steven M. Barrett's Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide to Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets lists hundreds of Hidden Mickeys* from every theme park at Walt Disney World, as well as the resorts and cruise line. Barrett also maintains a website to accompany the book with updates on new or removed Hidden Mickeys. This book is great for anyone who frequents Walt Disney World. After you've ridden Space Mountain a billion times, can sing all the lyrics to "The Laughing Place," and know every Jungle Cruise joke by heart (does "the backside of water" ever get old?), you'll be eager to find a new way to organize your trips to the happiest place on Earth, and Barrett's book provides just the guide you need. Hunting for Hidden Mickeys is a fun activity which can enjoyed by all the members of the family, from kids to grandparents and everyone in between. You might think that having the guide with you makes the Hidden Mickeys all easy to find, but Disney World is a big place and you'll still have plenty of adventure looking for every Mickey, from the largest sidewalk imprint to the smallest spots on the back of a fly painted on the wall. My mom and I have spent several trips to the parks hunting the Hidden Mickeys mentioned in Barrett's guide, and we still haven't found them all. Don't be afraid to ask Cast Members for help, either. They spend hours in the presence of Hidden Mickeys and know where many of the best are located. This book is organized well, with large sections for each theme park subdivided by land. It's also small enough to fit into tote bags or large purses and tall enough to make it easy to reach in deep bags. And the bright yellow cover makes it simple to find among all the other maps, books, and assorted souvenirs you'll accumulate during your trip. *Hidden Mickeys are Mickey-Mouse-shaped designs subtly placed around the Disney property by Imagineers and other artists. They usually occur as three circles making Mickey's head and ears. This is a "classic Mickey." There are also "profile Mickeys." In addition, some other Disney characters, like Winnie the Pooh, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald, have been hidden around Walt Disney World. (One of the most difficult Hidden Mickeys/characters to find is the Hidden Minnie in the boarding area of The Great Movie Ride.) Barrett's guide covers all of these.Read full review
You gotta love this book, it's a SCAVENGER HUNT FOR THE MICKEY ICON.aka HIDDEN MICKEYS. Amazing how many places the imageneers and architects could work the 3 ring icon of Mickey into the Disney Parks. In mosaics, in fence curves, in window panes, on walls of the rides, on ceilings, on displays...could go on and on...but the book tells all, use it as a scavenger hunt, or go to guide in back, and just check out the rides and parks you are visiting to aid spotting the HIDDEN MICKEYS...its great for the Adults especially those of us not ride crazy, but we LOVE all things MICKEY. IT's a MUST HAVE when visiting the parks. You will be glad you brought your book...and check out HIDDEN MICKEYS on the Collectible Trading Pins too. Enjoy Disney...gramma_colorado
