If you are asking yourself, "Who are the Waitresses?", well, you are either not a child of the 80's, nor do you have a love of retro music. Maybe this will jog your memory....."I know what boy's like, I know what guy's want". Gotcha! I knew you would remember those teasing lines from 1982 sang by the confident, Patty Donahue. She was always clad in a black leather mini, black hose and a hard core attitude. Another famous Waitresses song was actually a seasonal one: "Christmas Wrapping", track #7. Patty sang this totally fast, but, totally on the mark. It's a boy meets girl, boy loses girl, then boy gets girl. To all of the 80's teens, the theme song to "Square Pegs" is on track #9. Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, as a nerd, with her teenage troubles in high school. Ironically, all of these so called "girly" songs, complete with in-your-face flirtation, was written by macho Chris Butler. He provided the music and lyrics, then Patty Donahue made them all her own. Sadly, she died of lung cancer, but her legacy lives on in this 15 track CD. Since the band is no longer together of course, making this purchase is like taking a trip down memory lane, 20 years ago. The new teenage female generation can experience the old fashioned attitude of, "I am woman, hear me roar", from the one and only, timeless, Patty Donahue. I grew up with the music of the 80's so this is a great bunch of songs for me. Knew about the two most popular songs from the era but the CD let me listen to the other songs that I haven't heard before.

This is one of those rare CD's which any fan would be fortunate enough to acquire, because all of their best music can be found on this one CD. None of that fumbling through your CD collections to hear your favorite tunes. If you're a true 80's music fan, this is a MUST have for your music collection. On a personal note, I think it was very sad to lose the musical talents of Patty Donahue.
