FBI agent Steven Grant (Bokeem Woodbine) is given the very delicate assignment of tracking down a vampire who threatens to expose a secret government operative which would integrate vampires into normal society. His partner Aaron Grey, a "good" vampire, aids Grant in his search, which leads to the lair of Lucy (Bai Ling), a vampiress. The usually distrustful Grant is taken in by Lucy's charms, and he begins to wonder which side he's working for. This sexy thriller offers unique twists on the classic vampire and buddy cop genres.
How would humans react if there were being that looked like us and spoke like us, but could heal, are stronger, faster, etc. and not to mention the fact that they need blood to survive, even if they can get the blood from a source like plasma or animals. Sexy and dark take on human vs. the undead with a hot lead actor and supporting actor and just the right amount of mysterious/creepy supporting actress, and you got yourself a dark love story.
This film is actually surprisingly good considering the ratings and some of the reviews. The setting and atmosphere, while nice in itself, lends to the film not feeling dated. The story is competent, if not somewhat predictable. The only real complaint would be Bokeem Woodbine's performance in this; it feels off and even forced at times (overacting) - which wouldn't honestly be much of a problem if he wasn't such a main and central character. Adrian Paul, however, is fantastic. This isn't a rip-off film by any means (no more than any other film, anyway), and is definitely an underrated vampire flick that I'd have no problem recommending to people looking for something more than what's on every "must see" vampire movie list. It's no masterpiece, but it's good for what it is.

I had been searching high and low for this film since I saw it on tv several years back. It is one of my favorite vampire films. Looking for a copy to rent was bad enough, finding one to buy was like pulling teeth. It was more than worth buying when I finally found it. Unlike most vampire flicks it portrays vampires in an almost human light as a race of pacifists who just happen to need blood to live. Pretty unusual when compared to the average stake the bloodsucker fests that plague Holywood. I see it as a breath of fresh air on par with Interview with the Vampire. The only thing I could say I dislike about the film is detective Gordon's (the main protagonist) penchant for constant vulgarity. He curses at least one time nearly every sentence. I found the string of profanity obnoxious and completely unnecessary to the portrayal of the character. Overall the plot was unique and engaging. I recomend the film to all vampire enthusiasts.Read full review
It was actually better than I expected it would be. It's a dark movie with vampires/vampire hunters. If you like vampire stories that are a little different check this one out. Adrian Paul is a vampire/vampire hunter (cop). It's set in the future where he has to work with a human cop to solve a crime. It's a little darker than most vampire movies, in that so many go for the humor or cliche vampire lore. It's nice that this one didn't. I wouldn't say it's a great movie, but it's a good movie. It's a good addition to any vampire collection or if you're a fan of Adrian Paul. I'm sorry I don't remember the names of the other actors; even though I've seen them in other movies. The supporting cast was excellent and I feel correct choices.
