For the money these are getting on the used market they are the biggest steal in the synth world. Eight voice polyphonic, multi timbral, an almost foolproof phrase sequencer, 19 filter models. This is powerful Virtual Analog in a very small package. Use it with a controller for more key range. Absolutely amazing for the money considering used mono synths with one filter are going for twice as much.

I bought this synthesizer to add to my current rig (I'm a huge fan of mini synths). Although it looks like a toy, it feels extremely sturdy. This virtual analog synthesizer has the same sound engine as it's big brother, the Alesis Ion. This synth can recreate any sound I've had in my head, and its full-sized keys are a definite plus. I would NOT recommend this for beginners, as it has a limited screen, and limited nobs. Although it creates wonderful sound due to its wonderful sound engine, it's definitely meant for those who know what they're doing. Furthermore, it's been difficult to tweak it live, and it does take a good amount of time to create the sound you want. Overall, a wonderful synth due to its engine and full-sized keys, but its limited screen and nobs make it somewhat difficult to use, especially for newer players, and anyone wanting to tweak in real time.Read full review
This synth is capable of so much more than synths costing 4 times what this costs. Its 8 voice, multi timbral. Has a ton of filter types, a vocoder and can do drums as well. Not a Sample based synth at all. All analog style programming. Great buy. These are going to be highly sought after in a few years.

Got this because it's a do everything analog synth - wish they had these back then! So easy to use out of the box - even my wife was able to make decent sounds immediately... Use it with my casio privia to mix piano and synth sounds (two great classics - one great sound). Great little board that's the little engine that really could. Would like to see a couple more vintage style drums kits though - technica drums are too thumpy and hurts my ears - but I'm old school - remember when the first moog came out? Better yet Leslie rotating speakers?
I had a saved search for Alessis Micron for almost a year without seeing a blue one. Now I'm glad I waited. It's in great shape and the selector knob speeds through options much, much faster than with the older red model. Just getting my feet wet, looking forward to working with it more.
