Modern Transformers should take their cues from the engineering in this toy. Its legs push in and pull out like the classic Transformer toys, instead of the overly-complicated split-shin fold-in fiddly bits of the modern models. In robot mode, it has a few jet plane bits of kibble that clearly suggest its altmode, but it is not a robot with a jet plane on its back. Likewise, its plane mode cleverly disguises most of the robot parts, rather than being a jet with a robot slung clumsily underneath. Hasbro's Titans/Primes lineup tends to only care about the top of its vehicle modes, but the Human Torch goes the extra mile to make the plane and robot completely distinct. The wings fold very cleverly into the arms without hampering elbows or rotation, and the subtle shifts in the torso plates and shoulder joints take it the extra mile. What a satisfying toy to transform! I'm not even a fan of Johnny Storm: I bought this with the intention of kit-bashing to make another character, but after transforming it a couple times, I'm keeping it just as is. Transformers fans, you need one of these!Read full review
