The over-the-air channels look better when pulled in by the Tablo. The commercial skip feature doesn't seem to work but the fast forward does. Since I have been on streaming only on so many other devices I glad I can at least fast-forward through the commercials.

I've been trying for over a week to hook this thing up with no luck. I have spoken to the company several times & they tell me it is working fine but my internet is not connecting with it. Considering all the money I've spent on the device, a new antenna, & the storage unit, I have wasted a lot of money on something that isn't working for me. I am beyond upset.

The Tablo was just what I needed to record late night shows but also movies that might not be available to stream. But itsalso great to have the app that allows me to send the live antenna TV via wifi to TVs that I can't connect to the antenna. I like the app. It's easy to use and has nice features like commercial skip and allows extra time recording before or after the show begins.

The Tablo functions very well, BUT you must have an antenna suitable for your location and have it pointed in the direction of the transmitters, ALSO you must use a fully functional USB hard drive if you intend to pause and playback programs, as well as skipping commercials. Those features are the primary idea behind having a DVR versus viewing directly from an antenna. After you've used a properly functioning DVR it's unlikely that you'll ever go back to live over-the-air television. The Tablo fills the bill. The Dual Lite is a network DVR meaning that you can use it over wired Ethernet connections or Wi-Fi but there is no HDMI port to connect directly to a television set. We use laptops to receive the signal and have HDMI cables from the laptop to a HDTV, or you can just view programming directly on a laptop or a tablet if you prefer. My Tablo is connected directly to my Wi-Fi router with an Ethernet jumper. I know about the pitfalls because I tried using a 64GB USB thumb drive and that was a big fail. Thumb drives are not intended for fast rewriting and they stall badly. When I plugged in a USB hard disk it made a world of difference. An outdoor antenna is mandatory where I live and that combined with a quality amplified signal splitter gives us solid distortion free signals. Recording and playback performed fluidly from that point on. If you live close to the transmitters (<10 miles) you may be able to pick up what you want with an indoor antenna. Read full review

I like the product overall however I wish the online guide was included with the product instead of costing money after 30 days. Overall it was very easy to set up and it does a great job! I purchased the dual light, and only intend to use it as it is without hooking up a hard drive to use the DVR function, and probably won't use the commercial skip function for recorded channels which is an extra cost as well. The only thing like I indicated previously is I wish that the channel guide was a part of the service free of cost.
