The sequel to Defender, Stargate is leaps and bounds ahead of the original in every way. To start, the graphics and sound are astounding. It is hard to believe that this is an Atari 2600 game! However, the real meat of it is the gameplay. Virtually everything from the arcade version made it over, which is not something that can be said often about non-homebrew 2600 carts. It is incredibly fun, and the game always keeps you on your toes. The only negative thing I can say is that the controls can be a bit awkward, as a second joystick is used to take the place of three additional buttons (Up, Down, and Fire to use Inviso, Hyperspace, and Smart Bomb). Thankfully, the programmer was thoughtful enough to give the option of just using Fire on the 2nd controller, as when your Smart Bombs run out, it switches to Inviso, and when that is gone, Hyperspace is activated upon the button press. This is my favorite 2600 game of all time, and even if you are not a big fan of Defender/Stargate, I doubt that you won't have at least some fun with it, if not a complete blast.Read full review
Also known as Defender II, the sequel to the arcade classic, this game was one of the better arcade ports found on the Atari 2600. The graphics and gameplay are a major overhaul over the 2600's original defender though it does require two controllers to play which makes it a little cumbersome. A must have in any Atari collection.
Came in excellent shape. The labels were intact and the game started up immediately. Excellent shape for being 25 years old.
