A lot of publications (not leaving any names) gave the game a poor rating. Where they failed to look past Spencer's dreadlocks, I didn't, nor did countless other fans. Game play is rock solid. There's nothing quite like the feeling of free falling from a crumbling building, only to hookshot away at high speeds just before hitting the ground. Using this momentum to reach insane heights and gain a sort of aerial high ground on enemies. The motion system and animation is just so fluid you'll almost failed to recognize how refined it really is. Moving front point to point never feels tiresome or tedious. giving you the ability to come from any angle and get things done your way. The big selling point of this one is the highly underrated story. The newly remastered titled theme ( area 1 for you retro gamers )really sets the mood and is a perfect way to let you know that this isn't an easy pill to swallow. Yes, you are playing Bionic Commando... but this isn't just some jar head shoot 'em up. i won't spoil anything for you, but betrayal, anger and sorrow ooze out of this games story. All in all, it's an instant classic. A diamond in the rough that was drowned out by a see of brown and grey shooters. Both Capcom and Grin Studios put something fantastic together that will become a classic much in the same way it's nes counterpart did. give it time, it will be sought after and loved once the genre of "Look down things to shoot things" dies off a bit.Read full review
Bionic Commando on the Nintendo ,ahhh the memories of countless hours spent simply swinging through levels with total disregard for actual game progression! Sadly that time has passed, fast forward 20 years giving way to this colossal disappointment Bionic Commando for the Xbox 360. Bionic Commando is a long awaited (and I mean LONG) sequel to the hit 8 bit NES title most of you remember like I do,namely FUN! I can't say the same for this incarnation. The single player story will be where you spend all of your time playing this game. You start out as the same old BC you used to be only older and have had your sleek bionic arm replaced with a huge clunky, just plain ugly bionic arm. But let's move on from how ridiculous you look and move on to game play and graphics. The game play is your typical 3rd person perspective where they have you moving through destroyed cities, jungles and the like in a mix of platforming and action. The action is okay being able to grapple enemies and items keeps things from becoming too stale. Ultimately a low mix of enemies and simple boss fights doesn't keep the action fresh enough. If in the corner of your mind your thinking back to those hours of grappling everything on the NES and thinking the platforming will save this game for you, sadly you are wrong. Gone is the ability to grapple everything you see, now restricted to ledges and certain environmental objects. And with a poor targeting system and weak swinging mechanic with your grappling arm you will inevitably end off a cliff or the side of a building leading to your death. Copy and paste these things over several levels and you get the picture of single player, only interesting enough to keep the gamer score fanatics through to the end. And multi player, keep the bad swinging/grappling mechanic and overall bland level design from single player. Add goofy power-up and weapon pick ups and the three other people on the planet playing this game multi player and you have four people swinging to their deaths attempting to get the only usable weapon or power up on the level, which ends one of three ways. One: No one makes it to the kill count or capture limit and time expires. Two: One person makes it and camps it using the high vantage point to an easy 20 kill streak victory. Three: You get so frustrated trying to swing point to point while being shot at that you throw your 50 dollar wireless controller against the wall cursing the Capcom execs for releasing such a poor rendition of your beloved 8 bit Bionic Commando and ultimately shut off the console thus ending your 5 minutes of multi player game time. Overall one of the worst Capcom games of recent release, clearly the good designers were on the Resident Evil 5 staff and couldn't give this title the time and effort it deserved. C. its a good game, but i wont go as far to say its a great game. the graphics are pretty good, i enjoy the visuals, and the swinging is awsome, the shooting is gta/ just cause style, so that kinda sux. The ai is quite anoying xD, the game feels kind of primitive though, im in the begining thats why. but i feel like im playing a 3d arcade game, which i guess thats what it is technically.
this game is a nice chnge and an awesome throw back to simplier days of 8 - bit joy , the graphics seem about 720 p, the tutoring programs are gret , you need them , well hell i did , it has around every turn an 8- bit reminder of the nes version ......buy if you miss the days when games ,just seemed to hae more
I've been a fan of the Bionic Commando game since it was originally released on the Nintendo game system. I love the new graphics and game play throughout this game. They kept the feel of the original game but brought it to the modern age beautifully. I only have but one complaint, it's short, really short. It only has Three acts with each having about four sub-levels. Other than that it's still a lot of fun to play. I recommend this game for anyone that loved the original and for the adventurous thrill seeker in any gamer.
