About this product
Product Information
Blending the strategy associated with collectible card games with the turn-based structure of a board game, Culdcept Saga is the first in the series to offer four-player support online. Each player, referred in the game as a Cepter, begins with a 50-card deck from a pool of 480. Cards are used to cast spells, use items, or summon creatures to fight rival opponents. The object is to claim as much territory, represented by squares on a map, as possible. Once a player moves into unclaimed territory, he or she is allowed to place creatures found on one of the cards to guard the square.
Subsequent players who land on an occupied square can do one of two things: pay a toll and continue moving or fight to reclaim the territory. Once a battle is won, players earn the square as well as the card used to defend it. By winning matches in the Story Mode, players will be able to build custom decks for use in competition on Xbox Live. Previously released on PlayStation 2, Culdcept on Xbox 360 features revamped 3D visuals, more animation, alternate map routes, and achievement points. Players can also customize their character's appearance and card book by visiting the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Each time you play, you get rewarded with more cards which, in turn, make you want to play to get more cards. And it's never the same, it's completely random. This keeps you hoping for the best.
So you and your buddy throw down for an hour, with the incentive that 1st place gets 12 shiny new cards, and 2nd place gets 6... so don't lose! And his will be completely different for a long time, as there are reportedly 470 cards to be had. And some cards you'll want to have multiples of in your chosen deck of 50.
The play styles are infinite. Maybe your book is designed to take my turf by force after I spent precious resources to upgrade it, but perhaps my book has a bunch of shield items to help me hold my turf down. And maybe your book is supplemented with a bunch of spells that allow you to control your dice rolls and land where you want. And maybe mine has spells that destroy one item card from your displayed hand, such as a weapon that allows you to attack first, even when defending.
That's all I really care to write, but rest-assured, this will be the best $10 you've spent in a long time, sucka.Read full review
If you like card games, board games, AND video games, Culdcept is for you! It doesn't really focus on graphic battles or cute cuddly-ness to get you interested; but the gameplay can keep you playing for hours straight. In fact, this game and its predecessor for the PS2 are "under-the-radar" games.
*In the way of the graphics, I give this a 4. The movies in it and the unique art help it to stand out from other card/board games, but the gameboard graphics are nothing to write home about.
*The gameplay is very addictive, earning it a 5. From collecting all the cards, to collecting all the medals and achievements, to building the perfect deck to beat any computer, AI or human opponent (yet still losing), this game keeps you thinking about how different cards work together and how you can alter each deck based on which map you use.
*The fun factor is obviously a 5. You can play multiplayer, including creating an AI character based on your own characteristics and using your own deck of cards. And the online aspect adds so much to the spectrum. The games can be long, but setting a short time limit on turns can really make the decisions quick and the time will fly by.
*What is missing from the game is the battle graphics. It's alright watching two beautifully drawn creature cards and their items/support creatures, and then seeing the plusses and minuses in ATT/HP before someone wins or loses. A real treat would have been if they had generated a sort of gameplay that actually shows a little "Powder Puff" growing and using enough item strength to take down a huge dragon -- or showing a "Lung" creature growing from 0 to 300 strength.
*The overall rating of this game is a 5 based on the fun factor and replay value. I've had my game for years now and it's still one of the most-played games in my collection. The gameplay is exactly like Culdcept on the PS2, but this edition includes more cards and new artwork on some of the old cards. And playing online against worldwide opponents adds a whole new level of addiction. It is *definitely* worth buying!
***DISCLAIMER: I really don't recommend this game for anyone under 13 based on the cognitive developement required to tactically play and have real fun with the game... ie, it's easy to play blackjack -- but if the Ace got +1 in value if paired with a 4, or two 6's would each be reduced by 2 if the dealer shows a face card... that would take extra brain power to think about how you can possibly win. It's like chess -- if it could be played with cards -- and on different game boards -- and had many more pieces that you could mix and match. Or it's like the collectible card game, Magic: The Gathering meets Monopoly.Read full review
Culdcept SAGA- Magic the gathering + monoply=great game
the game is alot liek the description, it like magic the gathering (or almost any other card game for that matter) and monoply put together. so if your a fan of card games then you will enjoy this, try the demo if you dont think so.
all the matches are pretty long, some of them taking 2+ hours but you can save in the middle of them and restart later in the same place which i love! the graphics are amazing for an xbox 360 game and the battles between creatures are short and have very little graphics too them which isnt a big deal.
the story is a pretty good one. with around 500 cards to collect there is plenty of variety and different strategies.
overall this is a great game with tons of replay value because no 2 are exactly alike.
plus if your a card game fan one thing i liked was that when your book (what they call the deck) runs out of cards it just shuffles everything you already used and you draw from that. it makes the games longer but it adds way more fun to it. but a 7 card hand limit is kind of annoying because it checks at the beginning of the turn for that, so right after you draw if your hand is full you have to discard, which can get annoying but its ok.
i would recommend anyone who is a fan of card games or board games to try out this game. the demo is free on xbox live and the game is pretty cheap here on ebay or any other time you buy it used its pretty cheap.
plus this game has a good following online so there are tons of people to help you out and play on live with.
i would give this game a 90% A, just barely and A but still an A none the less.Read full review

a great turn based card game that is similar to "magic the gathering and monopoly" addictive and fun if you are into this type of game. very niche, does not seem to improve from the playstation 2 version but the 3d models and resolution does improve some aspects of game play.Read full review
Culdcept Saga is a game that combines elements of RPGs, turn-based world domination, card battles, and Monopoly. It is loads of fun for anyone that is able to remember obscure rules on specific cards. While this sounds like a negative, it is great for anyone with a solid memory that enjoys turn based games.
