Grand Prix is a two player overhead perspective racing game. The game has eight tracks that become available in sequence as the user successfully completes the previous track. The user will take control of the first player car and the computer AI will operate the second vehicle if no second player is opted in.

The game is controlled using an acceleration button, either trigger or the corresponding keyboard key, and steering left or right, through user defined keys or joystick. The user must defeat the computer car to advance to the next track. If the user does not defeat the computer, the game is over and the user must begin again from the first track. Each level consists of three laps. A timer is present and will keep track of high scores. On the track there are obstacles such as oil and mud patches that cause the vehicles to spin out of control, as well as wrenches that fix damage that can be inflicted on the users car by striking the barriers or the other car.

Two player match ups are available through dual joystick, single joystick/single keyboard, or dual keyboard. Both players race against each other on the same screen. The winner between the two is the user who finishes three laps first.

Options for the game include the ability to choose between one and two players as well as define the control for both players. A point system has been implemented that keeps track of time as well as wrenches, damage, a bonus pointer, and a point equivalency calculation that is used for high score purposes.
