Leader Board for the Commodore 64 allows you and up to three friends enjoy 18-hole golf on four courses. The courses vary in difficulty and you can play them in any order you like. Each course is riddled with hazards such as out of bounds, water and mud. Wind also plays a factor in the game when playing in professional mode. Other skill levels include novice and amateur.
There are 14 golf clubs from which to select including three woods, nine irons, a pitching wedge and a putter. A table in the instruction manual lists the range for each club. After selecting a club and positioning the cursor to aim your shot, you start the swing, set the power and snap your wrists to control hook or slice. If you are not ready for prime time golf, you can practice on a special driving range.
Once you get within 64 feet of the hole, the computer automatically puts you on the green (with putter in hand). To putt, you aim your shot and set the power. A slope indicator helps you determine if and how much the green breaks to the left or right.
When playing the game solo, you compete against your best score and the golf course by trying to score under par. If playing with two or more human opponents, you can select Medal Play, Match Play or Best Ball.
