If you grew up in the 1980's, there is nothing like owning your very own Mario Bros arcade game. The uprights have classic styling with great side graphics but my personal preference is the cocktail table style models. Nintendo licensed the re-release of a dedicated upright and cocktail table version of the original Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr. & Mario Bros. Another great idea is to buy an Arcade Factory RetroTable. You can search eBay using "Arcade Factory Cocktail Table" to find them. They are a great deal because they are built with a Universal JAMMA connector. Having a JAMMA connector not only allows it to play Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr & Mario Bros, but any JAMMA compatible game board. You can collect all the favorites from the 1980's to extend the fun of your arcade game. When buying an arcade game on eBay you should use caution. I recommend buying a new game over a refurbished model. Since the original Mario Bros. arcade games were manufactured in the 1980's the ones still around have old electronics that are prone to problems. Repairs can be costly and parts hard to find. You don't save money in the long run. Look for a new game from a reputable seller with excellent feedback. Look for eBay's Top Rated Seller emblem. Make sure the game has a warranty of a least a year. Find out what the warranty covers and who backs it up. Make sure the company will be around if you ever need a repair. The Arcade Factory RetroTable is sold with a 5 year warranty covering all parts including the expensive ones, the monitor and main system circuit board. ONE BIG THING TO AVOID Many sellers offer these games with used computer monitors rather than real arcade monitors. Some don't disclose this. Always ask. Real arcade monitors are built to last decades. The life span of computer monitors or LCDs is only a few years. Buying an arcade game is an expensive investment and you want it to last a lifetime. Ask plenty of questions and do your research before buying. A low price does not always make it the best buy.Read full review
Whats not to love. As the title implies, This is in my opinion the very best that side scrolling gets. A %100 classic that belongs in every & any Nintendo collection. I dont know about you, but I think The old 5 screw - black box cartridges for the original NES, are some of the very best video games ever created. Unlike more modern games, Super Mario Bros. has a simple plot, yet provides tons of fun between start and finish. Each time you defeat Koopa at the end of each castle, you are prompted to carry on as the damsel in distress you are out to liberate is in another castle. You meet and (hopefully) defeat many different & interesting creatures along the way. New surprises around each and every corner. The best part is (again unlike newer video games), you do not have to be a video-gameologist to figure out how to play Super Mario Bros. on The Nintendo Entertainment System. I hope you enjoyed my review & thanks for reading, Mike W.Read full review
Join Mario and Luigi in Mario's debuted self titled game, and Luigi's first appearance in the Mario series. This is an excellent port of the popular Nintendo arcade game. While not an exact port, it still retains all the elements that make the original game great. If you want to play this game it's also available for download on VC, nothing beats the original game on a home console (short of having the arcade cabinet). This is the only cartridge version of the game available on a Nintendo home console (excluding hand-held consoles, Mario Bros. for Game-boy Advance was released in 2004 in Japan, and the United States saw a release of a pack of e-reader cards that enables the game to be played via scanning them). All and all the game is uncommon at the least, and I consider any physical copies of this game to be collectible.Read full review
My husband wanted the old Mario game that he used to play long ago, so I found it for him and he plays it just about every night. It is an older game but my husband enjoys it. We also have a gamecube, playstation, and xbox360. The nintendo is the one he plays most. And only the Mario Brothers.
Where it all began. This rare video game was released before Super Mario Bros., and in this game we see Luigi for the first time. If you own super mario bros., super mario bros. 2, and super mario bros. 3, then you'll definately want to add Mario Bros. to your collection.
