My daughter purchased this game and this is what she has to say about it, "I love this game! I am 11 years old and I bought this game for my birthday. We searched everywhere and finally we found it! The game is VERY fun to play. The graphics are very good for a Nintendo DS game. Horse Life Adventures is very hard to put down! When you first start playing, you have to choose the breed of your horse. There are about 3 or 4 breeds to choose from. I wish that there could have been more than that, but that is OK with me! After you have to pick the color, but each breed has about 2 colors, so if you are counting on making your horse a specific color, you may have to pick a breed that you had not considered. Next, you get to pick the color of the hair (mane and tail). You can even pick black-and-white hair! I was very surprised to find out that you can make the horse have purple hair! The game shows a tiny clip of what your foal looks like. It's so cute to see the foal stand up and walk to you! You even get to name your foal! I wish that you would have been able to care for the foal and interact with it before it grew up! Instead, a message pops up on the screen and reads 'Three years later.' But, even though you may have named your horse a girl or boy's name, the people in the game will sometimes call your horse a 'her' or a 'he' no matter what name you chose. That is sometimes annoying when your horse may be a boy and they are saying 'her' or if you have a girl and they say 'he', but don't let that bother you! The game had to be programmed so they have to make it say 'her' or 'he' because they had no way of knowing which people would make their horse a boy or a girl. At first, when I started the game, I customized a horse and named the horse a boys name, but then they started calling my horse a 'her' not the boy that my horse was, so I quit and made a new horse that was a girl and later they sometimes said 'he' so they are just saying that, they don't pick your horses gender ( I don't think!). The competitions were fun and so was the training. I loved riding in the forest on the trails. As you progress through the game, you unlock more items. You can buy saddles, saddle pads, brushes, curry combs, shampoo, antistress, and energizer items for your horse and more too! You can buy feed and snacks (such as potatoes, apples, pears, carrots, and bananas). You can also buy music for the trails and riding gear (clothes too) for the riders. The one last thing that I wanted to mention was that, there were customization features, but I was a little disappointed that you couldn't customize the riders hair style, hair color, or eye color. They pick the color of your person's hair. And boys might not like that there are not boy riders, there are only girls. So if you have in mind what your rider is going to look like, you may be disappointed that your rider has to have blonde hair either way. You can't pick the color. OVERALL, THIS IS AN AWESOME MUST-BUY GAME! It is probably the best game that I have for the Nintendo DS. Thank you for reading!"Read full review
We borrowed the Wii version from the library. Since my granddaughter loved the game I bought it for her DS. She is 7, it keeps her busy and also she has to follow directions and take care of her horse. I would recommend it for any child that loves horses.
In great shape, happy with purchase!
