I have been a great fan of strategy rpgs for about a decade now. I am appreciably older than the juveniles that play video games. I enjoy thinking about the moves I need to make. I love the leveling up and having my characters become almost invincible. Finding every secret weapon, exploration, even the dialogue keeps me wanting more. Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon offers all this and more. The story is not ground-breaking; young man loses memory; finds long-lost brother, saves the world. OK, not the most inspired, but good enough to keep you playing. There are knights, mages, archers, dragons, cardmasters, robots all of whom want to play on your team. You must choose whether or not you use them all, with average strengths, or, develop a core team that is unbeatable. I choose the latter. Max and his band have the ability to become one big, mean fighting machine. Graphics are rudimentary, but colorful. The battle screens are repetitive, but gratefully short. The leaning curve is short, so it is a game that can be picked up and enjoyed by anyone. You'll complete it in about 10-15 hours, depending on your leveling up requirements. Sound effects are good, but the music has a tinny beat that grates on the nerves after awhile. All in all, I recommend this game for those gamers who love chess and like the ability to pick up a game, play a few levels and put it down. 4/5Read full review
You are truly a god send. Honesty is hard to come by these days. Especially with games that are hard to find like this one. It works perfectly! I've been dying to get this game for a long time since I have played the original on Sega Genesis. And then this one on an emulator. (Now I don't need the emulator!) Again, thank you so much!

I had heard good things about this SF1 remake and it (so far) has lived up. The characters have been re-drawn and look great, they have revamped a few things, such as EXP points carry over level to level ( like SF2, for those familiar with the series,) the game also tracks you HP,MP, ATK etc... progress and, it tracks your kills, deaths, and overall attacks. I recommend this game to any SF fan, or anyone looking for a great, classic turn-based RPG.
I loved everything about this game. It's basically Shining Force 2 made over with new features. It is also the best game in the series that I have played so far. Although I haven't played the PS2 versions. Great game & well worth buying.
Remaster of a great game.
