Space Ace, the Arcade follow up to Don Bluth's Dragon's Lair, is now available for the Atari ST. Originally a laser-disk game from 1983, this version of Space Ace uses advanced compression techniques to allow more than 40 animation scenes to appear on your computer.
Evil commander Borf has kidnapped the beautiful Kimberly and is plotting to take over the world with the help of his super-powerful weapon -- the dreaded Infanto Ray. As Ace, Earth's greatest hero, it is your job to destroy the Infanto Ray, save the planet from destruction and rescue Kimberly.
Unlike with most video games, in Space Ace you don't control all of your character's actions, rather you control his reactions to the events surrounding him. As you watch each animated sequence play out, your job is to decide in which direction Ace (and his weak alter ego, Dexter) should move on screen and when. Also, you must choose at what points Ace should use his laser gun and laser staff. Many scenes require more than one jump, ducking motion, laser blast or other move.
Your adventures in Space Ace take place aboard a space station and on the surface of a strange alien planet. Dangers you'll face include moving platforms, purple monsters, blue cat people, dog creatures, security robots, deadly rays and a staff-wielding Borf.
Owners of Atari ST computers with single sided drives are limited in the number of scenes they will be able to play.
