Another great release in a fantastic series of bemani (music / rhythm action) games where you press the controller buttons and spin the DJ scratch disc in sync with the notes coming down the screen. Beatmania or Beatmania IIDX controller is optional but recommended. You can play with the standard PS2 controller but get yourself a US or JAP Beatmania IIDX controller for best effect. Both versions will work on this game although the game is suitable for Japanese or modified ps2's only... Almost all the text is in English though so you'll find it easy to navigate and play with no problems. And you might even learn some Japanese kanji with some of the track names ! Features many many tunes ! (including various styles such as Techno, Drum 'n' Bass, Rock etc as well as other varying styles. Difficulty levels are available from Training, Beginner and Standard to Expert. Also once tracks are unlocked, the Free mode allows access to them all in any order ! You are also able to change hi-speeds during tracks ! There have also been some improvements to Timings which are mainly reported to be much better, although some players may find them harder on Expert difficulty... If your TV has ever lagged with rhythm action (bemani) games, then this solves that problem by allowing you to adjust the timing of the notes sent to screen which is a great feature. If you score 3 AAs on Hard enabled "Another" mode you unlock the Extra Stage, 'GENOCIDE by dj Killer. If that is then beaten, you unlock another Extra Stage, "Piano Concertino No. 1 Scorpion Fire". A new rating, a flashing 8 was added to the difficulty scale. The unused side of the screen during single player play is now used to house a score graph, containing a real-time comparison of the current player against the high scores. Plenty of unlockable treats also, including Extra Songs, Song Customisations, Gameplay Interfaces, Pictures and Note Splashes. If you are a Dance Dance Revoultion fan then you'll find plenty of your favourite tracks on this game. If you ever enjoyed Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Pop n'n Music, Taiko no Tatsujin or even Gitaroo Man or Parappa the Rapper then try this game its great fun and will keep you playing for months with all its many unlocks and options :) GREAT game :)Read full review
