This game is so beautifully designed. It allows for an impressive range of player expression through Astro's abilities, squeezing every inch of capability of the GBA's button layout. The audio and visual presentation is so full of life, matching the seemingly effortless inventiveness of Treasure's production team. I'm not an expert player, so I find the game to be quite challenging at times, but very rewarding. Highly recommended!

FYI, my opinion of this game was influenced by the fact that I like the Astro Boy cartoon. The controls were pretty easy to learn. This is good because it allows you to focus on playing the game and not have to worry about which button combination does what. You can choose from six languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Japanese. There are three difficulty settings: Easy, Normal, and Hard. The Easy setting is very easy. The only challenge on the easy level is the final boss. You can play all the way up to him without dying. The first bosses are easy to defeat and you're given so many "EX" attacks that the later bosses (with the exception of the final boss) can all be immobilized, they don't even have a chance to attack. Although, this is only true if you give priority to powering up your machine gun. The Normal setting is quite the step up. You take more damage, your opponents take less, and you're limited in the amount of "EX" attacks you can store. All of the boss battles require you to battle with a strategy and reflexes. If you just go in attacking you'll lose quickly. I have no idea what the Hard setting would be like. The levels are basically a straight-forward beat 'em up. You do go through all the levels twice. However, the game does have a definite story line that you have to play through. I don't want to ruin it for you so all I can say is that as you gain clues you will need to revisit previous levels to advance the story. Sometimes you'll have to figure out which level to revisit and sometimes you'll have to find someone in order to advance the story line. I found out that you have to complete the level to save your progress. There was one point where it took me awhile to figure out what I was supposed to do next. I feel that added to the game, because it made me think. The game also includes a list of some of Tezuka Osamu's other characters along with information about them. You may have to play the game a little to unlock the list. I know the more you play then more characters are unlocked in the list. There was only one thing I didn't like about the game. There was a character that turned out to be a sorcerer that could summon gods. I'd rather not play a game that has that. However, because that's a personal preference, I didn't let that affect the rating. Aside from the sorcerer, this game is totally AWESOME!Read full review
