My daughter is 9 and we both have played the game about half a dozen times. We bought it because of online "rave" reviews from other consumers. She says, " It's a fun game and I like that you can design the clothes yourself, but I don't like the annoying talking, that your designs are erased when you turn it off, that you don't do competitions (there's no scoring/leveling up/progressions in the game) and you have to design 5 outfits every time to do a fashion show." My words: The fashions are diverse enough that it does hold your attention if you think designing clothes is fun. We have made some really fun and cute outfits. It is also a easy to play, which is a plus. The fashion show music is fun and so are the props and lights. For the clothing you are only out picking colors and prints and adding them to tops, bottoms and dresses, not actually creating styles. You then pick your models and give them hairstyles and shoes. Lastly, you design a runway with music, lights and props and have a fashion show. You "earn" new items quickly for clothing choices, music, props etc; giving you more options, which is good, but then there's nothing else to accomplish. The major problem is that this is the whole game and you are essentially doing this over and over and over. We do one fashion show each then turn it off; it's enough of a fashion fix for us. The most aggravating part of the game for us is Barbie's annoying talking while we design outfits. She says things like "I never would have thought of that", "I wish I could be in the show" "Could you make one like that for me?" "Those colors really go well together" She talks TOO MUCH! She says these things even before you have an outfit together and we have to turn off the sound to enjoy ourselves. We make fun of her talking. You cannot save your shows, which is junk and it's a one player game, also junk. I would rate this as a great game for a girl 6 + under. Would we buy it again? Both of us say say no.Read full review
I bought this game for my daughter's 7th birthday. It was easy for her to figure out and she is still playing it. I played it myself for a few minutes and it IS addictive! You work as Barbie's assistant in her fashion studio. Barbie's friend Teressa gives you assignments to complete. Example: The 1st assignment is to design 3 cheer leading outfits. You are given some templates to choose from, and from there.....you can choose colors, patches ,etc. Or you can use the stylus to draw your own design on your fabric. Once you complete the outfits....you can choose your model, her hair-do, her shoes.....and then you can choose the stage and poses for your fashion show. During the show....you get to be the photographer and take photos for your portfolio. It's a fun little game! If you are looking for a more in-depth fashion game for a teen....I would suggest checking out "Nintendo DS Fashion Studio : Paris Collection". There isn't a fashion show with that game....but it DOES give you more selections with clothing patterns, colors, fabrics, make-up, hair styles, jewelry, etc.Read full review
Hello, My daughter purchased this game for her Nintendo DSi XL. This is what she has to say about the game- "I purchased this game and had a great time playing it. I watched a demo of it and thought that it would be a good game to purchase. It is easy once you get used to it. At first, I did not understand how to play, but I found out that the reason I did not understand was because I had not paid attention to the instructions. The game is fun and I like the fact that I can draw my own designs. I love the game! I completed it and I started a new game and it has continued to be a fun thing to play. It has good graphics. I hope that this review helps."
My daughter loves this game. The only drawback is there does not seem to be any auto-save when big changes are made. More than once my daughter has had to start over with one of her fashion projects, but overall she didn't seem to mind. She is eight and loves playing this for as long as the DS battery last or as long as we let her play. Entertainment wise, it was worth every penny for her.
One day i received a notice from my big daughter saying that she always wanted a nintendo ds but she was too little to buy it, now on her 9th she could afford it !!!!!! I was moved by this notice and purchased one from ebay with 6 games included in a very reasonable price. With the same amount i could only buy the hardware locally. As she had play this specific title on her pc she wanted also for her nintendo and again i found it on ebay used in a very reasonable price and made her happy again. As long as my daughter likes and plays with barbie and not with something else i'm very happy to please her. She grow up with her you know !!!
