The Plot: In this game (loosely based on the movie) you play as goofy 'toon Roger Rabbit on a quest to save Toontown, and your lovely wife Jessica, from the clutches of Judge Doom. Along the way you'll get help from detective Eddie Valiant, Baby Herman, Bennie the Cab and even complete strangers. The Graphics: Quite good for an original Game Boy title, they incorporate nice shading, detail and good sized sprites. The game uses a top-down perspective like most of the 2D Zelda series giving you a good overview of your surroundings. The Sound: About average, or a bit above, you'll hear several different tunes during the game, but nothing too catchy or moving. Sound effects work well (I like the "clanking" sound as the trolley starts up). The Game-Play: Though rather short, it was a pretty fun romp. The levels are each concluded with a cutscene & password to let you pick up at the beginning of each new level you unlock. As you progress you'll obtain items & weapons that grant you access to new areas while helping you survive the weasel infestations. Pro(+)/Con(-) Break-down: + Very nice graphics & decent sound + Overall pretty fun. The Toon Gun, Punch Hammer & Bennie the Cab were enjoyable additions to the arsenal. Boss fights provided some variation, but generally weren't terribly challenging. - The Game includes 6 levels or "Scenes", but they are all pretty short and not especially challenging or compelling for replay. -/+ If you go down for the count, you'll have to replay the whole level again. Fortunately (in this case) they aren't very long. Other thoughts: The item screen has far more blanks than will be filled during the game, so I wonder if this was originally planned as a longer quest. It would have been cool if items like the giant magnet & "portable hole" had made the cut. All-in-all it's a good little game you can probably get through in an afternoon, and worth picking up (especially if you're a fan).Read full review
