GT Advance 2: Rally Racing brings the world rally sport to the small screen with a healthy selection of countries, options, and car manufacturers represented. Fifteen cars from Toyota, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Suzuki, and Nissan, 42 tracks from 14 countries, and seven modes of gameplay, including a multiplayer link capability, offer diversity and challenge as you overtake cars to gain position in event stages.
Cars are rated in maximum speed, acceleration, handling, and grip, with adjustable slider controls for steering, transmission, brakes, and suspension. Selectable tires for racing on tarmac, gravel, mud, and snow help conquer varying weather and track conditions, along with an option for manual or automatic shifting. Appropriate backgrounds and track textures differentiate between countries.
Gameplay centers on gaining positions by passing opponent cars that pop up at various points in each leg of the circuit. Completing events in World Rally, the core mode, unlocks cars and upgrades for use in single-race and practice modes. Co-driver puts you in the passenger seat, calling out commands to the driver, time trials let you set personal bests, and a license mode with specific challenges unlocks a bonus car. Battery saves allow continuation at any point after an event is completed, but not during individual stages.
Additional features include a gauge for tracking progress on each track, automatic replay of each leg from various camera angles, music selection, an RPM gauge, total and stage times, audible navigator commands, and an after-race recap chart showing position and times.
