This is the BEST Nintendo RPG ever! Dragon Warrior IV and Final Fantasy are both awesome RPG games as well. Those tend to be a little more kiddie-ish. Weapons and items are also pre-determined much of the time in those games. Might and Magic is darker, more danger wrought. With over 100 different items and weapons, most of which are randomly found or gotten. The clues in the game are more advanced as well. It helps to have graph paper and a whole bunch of time! Especially in the teleporting areas. There are countless spells and countless characters. You can create your own characters by chosing race, gender, guild, etc. Attributes are generated randomly, like rolling dice! This game is more realistic to the fantasy. Since it is played in the first person point of view. If you don't like being lost or confused. Or, if you enjoy the convenience of in game area maps, and cutsie little stories along the way. This game is NOT for you. If you like mysteries, problem solving, riddles, and mazes. This game is for you. This is about survival in a big world without direction. HINTS: EVERY step you take, turn in every direction to "look". Or else you may miss a clue. One clue is Star Trek related, "The world is hollow, and I have touched the sky". That is all you are getting from me! If you are already a fan of the Might and Magic series computer versions. I have played the different versions of Might and Magic on the computer. NOTHING compares to THIS version. Might and Magic I on the computer is HORRIBLE. Some of the others which followed were fun. The graphics were nice. NOTHING compares to this version! I had to say it again. Buy this game and buy a system, if you need to. It's worth it. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! I gave my original of this game to a friend as a going away present 10 years ago. The box and all of the extras were all near mint. I had been looking for a replacement ever since! Good luck finding one, until I met Ebay.Read full review
This overlooked and forgotten dugeon crawler is probably the best western style RPG for the NES. Preferred over the mighty Wizardry games and even the Bard's Tale. Essential.
