Warhammer 40K Squad Command offers great fast paced tactical play in a scaled down straight forward package. The good: The gameplay and graphics are great. Controls are intuitive and easy to learn. The multiplayer download function (2-players 1-card)works great. I thought the sound and story were Okay. Many of the objects in the game can be destroyed with great results. There's a good selection of weapons, and units as you progress through the game. The not so bad: The maps all look and feel the same. Some of the missions the CPU has a heavy advantage. A little more variety would have been good. These are very minor complaints. If you like turn based tactical games you can't go wrong with this title. Warhammer Squad Command offers good solid gameplay that's easy to get into without being bogged down with extra stuff.Read full review
A fun little game to pass the time- Squad command offers turn based, squad strategy fun set in the Warhammer 40k universe. Space marines are allotted action points that they can spend to move, fire weapons and perform actions (including "over-watch") during a player's turn. Individual troop placement is vital as marines are susceptible to friendly fire. If you're looking for fun, but not life changing then this game is for you.
Its a pretty good game... Worth playing once. If you know what warhammer 40k is; you play as space marines, its a turn based game where you control each man differntly. You play missions and as you progress through the game your weaponary develops from starting with scouts with bolters to marines with lascannons (which kinda sucked cuz its so hard to hit anything). To predator tanks with their famous deadly autocannons. You fight aginst Chaos word bearers.... And most missions your out numberd. The controls take a little time to get used to and you will find yourself in awkward map positions. Yet its brought alot of fun to the table so its definatly worth playing through once. And i wouldnt really recomended it for kids.
I bought the game as a gift for my 16 year old son and he LOVES it. He is big into Warhammer so I thought that this was something that he would like. He totally enjoys it.
Very challenging for a DS game. Innovative movement and combat actions. Reminds me of the old space Hulk games!
