I recently played the PS2 version and was curious to see how the Xbox 360 version was and it's way better. The PS2 one does the best with what it has to work with, but this a fun game on the 360. The graphics are smooth (no jaggies or rough edges), controls feel nice, and it mixes up the 1st person with 3rd person cover system well. Normally I'm not a fan of the cover and shoot games because the aiming can be a pain if the camera/ controls are clunky, but they got it right on this one. If you're a fan of Goldeneye on N64 and action games in general, I recommend it.

I played this game at a friends house and was needing to buy it. Introducing a more lethal and cunningly efficient Bond, the game blends intense first-person action with a unique third-person cover combat system that allows players to truly feel what it is like to be the ultimate secret agent as they use their stealth, precision shooting and lethal combat skills to progress through missions. Blending the action of the "Quantum of Solace" feature film with the "Casino Royale" movie, the title propels players into the cinematic experience of international espionage. Based on the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare game engine that has been specifically engineered to immerse players in the Bond universe, the Quantum of Solace game delivers high-definition graphics, reactive AI and visually stunning locations inspired by locales portrayed in the films. Quantum of Solace marks the first time players can become the dangerous and cunning Bond as portrayed by Daniel Craig. From silent take downs and sneaking through confined spaces, to one-on-one shoot outs and large scale battles, players experience a variety of gameplay that challenges them to think through situations and choose how they progress, whether it's through covert means or confronting enemies in full force. Advanced combat and Realistic AI: Players engage in both first-person and third-person gameplay that allows gamers to be Bond in unscripted battles against the world's most evil villains and mercenaries. Filled with armed combat, massive explosions and vertigo-inducing chases, gamers are immersed in an authentic Bond universe and drawn into epic movie moments with theatrical camera angles, split screen effects, picture-in-picture sequences, and amazing environments inspired by real world locations such as Montenegro, Venice, Bolivia and Austria. Bringing James Bond to next-gen consoles for the first time, gamers now have the ability to battle online in a variety of modes.Read full review
I am a huge james bond fan and this is by far better then any EA james bond game, but with that said, it still is not as good as goldeneye for nintendo 64. But if you go back to goldeneye now it is virtually unplayable compared to modern games. The cover system in QoS is very similar to R6 Vegas and Gears of War, except it can be buggy at times. This can be frustrating while playing on 007 Agent mode because it is very tough and you die in 1-2 shots. Every review says the game is like 5-7 hours long, but they obviously played it on easy because it took me about 15-20 hours on 007 Agent mode. Multiplayer is fairly simple, yet fun. The game runs on the Call of Duty 4 game engine, which makes it feel like COD4 in a way, but it tends to have a slower framerate then COD4 which may turn of some people. Leveling up by earning credits and buying guns, mods, and perks is cool. I like how you get to choose what you want to buy as opposed to unlocking certain things with leveling up. Cover is also used in multiplayer which can make for some interesting blind fire kills. If you are a james bond fan this is definately worth a play. I am glad they stuck to all first person shooter and no lame car missions that last 2 minutes like every EA bond game. that killed the older bond games in my opinion.Read full review
PROS Using Cover - QoS uses the Call of Duty 4 engine, but unlike COD4, you can position your character behind cover and blindfire. This radically changes gameplay, allowing you to move very close to enemies without being killed. Your character can run and slide into cover as well, making you a hard-to-hit target. Nice! Voice Acting – Activision went all the way and obtained the original actors for the voice overs, except for perhaps Eva Green. This retains the feel of the Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace movies. Choose Your Weapon (Online) – Instead of giving you preselected guns as you earn credits (like COD4 or CODW@W), QoS allows you to pick which guns/perks to spend your credits on (like BFBC). My advice? Get the A4 Hutchison Shotgun, a Silencer, Increased Bullet Damage, a Flak Jacket, Proximity Mines and Double Proximity Mines immediately. You will level the competition. CONS Multiplayer Enemy Spawning – QoS has the WORST spawning in any online game I’ve played: COD4, CODW@W, Battlefield: Bad Company, you name it. Enemies will constantly spawn directly behind you, assassinating your character before you have a chance to react. It is very frustrating, particularly when playing Golden Gun Mode. Other times, your character will spawn directly in front of an enemy who has a blazing gun. Before you can fire, you are dead. I HATE the spawning of QoS. Our team lost a game of Territory because the computer randomly chose to start spawning enemies inside our perimeter. We knocked out everyone, then suddenly enemies start appearing out of thin air behind us. It was pure BS. The spawning of enemies kills the replay value for me. Gimpy Graphics – For a PS3 game, the graphics aren’t very good. MI-6 operatives look like dweebs with their kayak battle helmets. Poor Server Support – I cannot count the number of dropped games I have been in. After playing through ¾ of a match, the words “Connection Interrupted” appear and that’s it; no more game, and no credit for all my kills. It seriously bugs. Activision and Treyarch just do not have sufficient support for all the QoS matches going on. You will spend a lot of time simply waiting to get into a match. Limited Online Levels/Lame HUD Radar – The selection of multiplayer levels is limited, and some, such as The Spa or Chemical Plant, are very confusing. You spend half your time trying to figure out where the enemy is, especially in Golden Gun Mode, only to have someone spawn behind you and blow you away. You cannot pause the game and see a larger map for the whole level; you can only use the dinky HUD radar, which is small and not very helpful. Overall, Quantum of Solace is an OK FPS, but it fails to be great. It is fun, but no challenge to the Call of Duty series.Read full review
