This is a UMD that plays on a portable play station, not a DVD player. As such, the graphics are more pronounced. Paul (Greg Kinnear), an inner-city teacher & wife, Jessica (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos), are so traumatized after their 8 yo. son, David (Cameron Bright), is killed in a freak car accident that they consider a very unusual proposition. At their son's funeral site, a former science professor of Jessica's, Dr. Wells (Robert De Niro), talks to the couple about a way he believes they can overcome their loss. Seems the professor is in charge of a DNA clinic. He makes the couple an offer they can't refuse. They can move into Dr. Wells' country estate, located close to his clinic, Paul can have a teaching position in a private school, & the professor will create a clone of David, the son they lost. The rub is that if they accept the professor's proposition, they have to undergo this life transition in absolute secrecy. Even though they are wide-aware of the social moral conflicts, the bereaved parents will do whatever it takes to get their son back. They couple are euphoric after their son is reborn & their family is once again whole. But, when the cloned David grows older than his previous age of 8yo, the horrors of this story start cranking up. The graphics include images of ghostly figures & eerie, dream-state premonitions of things to come which aren't natural. Combined with an excellent apropos musical score, a tight script, great acting & a noir-like blandness, "Godsend" becomes a very well done understated suspenseful horror about raising a cloned child who is uncontrollable. With the topic of human cloning being a contemporary burning social issue, this film mirrors the fears that societies have conjured up in their supernatural imaginaries. De Niro is perfectly cast for this role~Read full review
Godsend is a DVD movie that is scary it will have you on the edge of you're seat especially if you have never watched this movie before trust me while I was sitting on my couch watching the movie I was guessing every detail that was about to take place before the movie was over it was not over yet but it was a very good horror movie to watch I mean the kid that was ran over in the street named "Adam" was really born all over again in another boy named the same "Adam" she missed her first son so, much that she named the new boy after him little did she now that the new son Adam would start having these vision of the son that was ran over by a car in the street so, yes this a very rare umd PSP horror movie I like it I watched this movie on a DVD that my mom had before she sold it when we had a community wide garage sale in my neighborhood.
