The Tony Hawk game series' first foray onto to Nintendo DS, the game blends a steady control with astounding 3D graphics that provides an enjoyable game to long-time fans of the series and first timers alike. The featured story mode is lengthily and fun, with lot's of things to see, do, and skate. Earning cash by completing missions enables you to build your own custom skate park. While the feature is admirable, It could have used more interactivity and freedom to customize. Classic mode has been carried over to American Sk8land as well, with many challenging and fun missions to complete besides the main story missions. The control scheme really could have been mangled on the handheld due to the small buttons and 4-way gamepad, but it's pulled of nicely for an enjoyable playing experience, but it may lead to some hand cramps after a while. The game feature access to Nintendo's Wi-Fi gaming service, allowing you to post your scores and runs online, as well as playing head to head with a competitor. It also features DS to DS wireless communication for multiplayer gameplay. Overall, the game is an excellent start to what may hopefully be a long series of Tony Hawk games on the DS.Read full review
I should preface this by stating that my original plan was to buy a psp so I could play thug 2 remix. And I should also state that if you have the option, I would go with thug 2 remix. However, this is a cheaper alternative and I am very surprised by this game. The story and goals are pretty linear. There isn't a whole lot of interest for me in the goals. There fun, but not that great. The goals are also really easy, especially with the map. Where this game shines is the physics and graphics. It's 2019 and I'm shocked. The game is clean, the cell shaded graphics are a great choice for this game. It really makes the game pleasent to look at. The physics are great, but a bit odd. There similar to thps1 and thps2 but they in some way control more fluidly. the skater doesn't feel stiff. Some of the sound effects are from the older games to. That being said they are really nice physics. You can do back flips just like the console games. There are special tricks, natas spins, wall plants, spine transfers and reverts. However, you can't get off your board and I don't think you can do grind stalls or Burt slides. My main reason for getting this game is so I could play a Tony hawk game on the go, that was as close to the console versions as I could get besides thug 2 remix (I don't have a psp). Also, this game has classic mode. Which is a nice addition. You can create a skater (sort of bare bones tho). You can use the stylus to draw your own tag (yes you can tag in the game but you don't get off your board to do so). It's a pretty nice little game! I'm impressed and I really like it, it controls great even though it did take a little getting used to. It's just a bit odd using the ds to control the game but it's not to bad and you get used to it so it's not really an issue. Highly recommend this game of you like Tony hawk games!Read full review

I love the Tony Hawk series, so I'm not really the right person to judge it, but if you already played and liked a Tony Hawk game, this one should be easy to like. The cell shaded graphics gives a nice new feel to the game, wich is awesome for the first hour, in the second you may start to get sick of it, sometimes the levels look the same because of the cell shade. The game also lacks a bigger soundtrack, there's only 13 tracks in series that usually has 20+. Thats probabbly a problem with the cartridge too low storage. If you are familiar with the game, you'll find it very easy too. I did'nt experience the wi fi but I dont see the point of skating wirelessly, I'm looking foward to download the extra missions. The game is awesome, the best skating game available but nothing new except the cell shaded graphics for the veterans.Read full review

My son was excited to get this game. Its a basic skate game that allows you to just do tricks or complete tasks. Your choice. Simple controls but the ability to do fun skate tricks from the pros.
