The Premium Edition is great. I'm not planning on opening it, since I bought it on order to collect it, but I do own the game digitally on PSN (and also the PC version on Steam), so I am still qualified to review the product. The soundtrack is amazing. The two games may be from the late 80s originally, and the bump combat reflects that, but it's still hard to say that it doesn't hold up as a game. This is easily the best version of Ys I & II, aside from maybe the more recent Steam release. The best portable version for sure. The games can be a bit cryptic, and Ys I in particular becomes a bit labyrinthian in the latter half of the game, but it's still a great action adventure game with light RPG elements. The characters are likable, the beautiful sprite work is enchanting, and the only way Falcom could make it better is if they did a reimagining and used the Ys VIII engine for it.Read full review

Ys I & II Chronicles on the PSP is a 20-year-old game design with a 10-year-old coat of paint on it, finished off with the gloss of an all-new soundtrack. Only consider it if you know you're in the mood for an intentionally obtuse, old-school journey that'll have you searching for an online guide in the first five minutes – or if you just really want to see a man defeat his foes by slamming straight into them with his face.
Great game and great cost
