I had looked into all Quadcopters before deciding to buy the 3DR Solo. The 3DR seems to have the best of everything: Features, upgrades, technical support and quick turn around for the developers to fix anything that may need to be addressed (I only contacted them to see how long it would take for them to reply). 3DR replied rapidly, others I'm still waiting to hear from. This quadcopter is great for the beginner and the advanced right out of the box after the initial setup. I was taking pictures and videos using the third party GoPro Hero 4 Black camera that I attached first to the quadcopter, and then to the Gimbal in different flights. What a difference that Gimbal does to making a professional looking video. Scenes you would have to have many hours of training on are built in as defaults, letting the beginner's have videos that look professional. I love this for the photography, being able to setup the shot I want before taking a picture, or setting up the shot I want using the cable cam. I bought this thing almost a year ago with hopes that I would have a nice cheap competitor to dji products. It never got in the air one time. I even changed out the mother board. This thing was a nightmare for me.

This is an incredible piece of technology. It may be the most expensive drone out there but in my opinion well worth it. My only complaint is the gimbal should be a standard part of the unit, not an extra. The drone would be useless without, it really is a must have. It is easy to use, well made, and for someone who has never flow a RC type product and have it do what it does and make me look good with the video and images it takes says tons for the technology of this product. If I were to crash it today I would 100% buy another immediately to replace it.

Although this particular package was not a "great" bargain by today's market. It was a bargain compared to a couple of years ago. I highly recommend this product, but one must be aware of market prices when purchasing similar "bargains". These 3DR Solos are a remarkable product in that they are quite "smart" and extremely easy to fly and use for photography.

3DR's Solo is probably THE go for when starting in the droning obsession. 3D Robotics were the leaders in the Remote Piloted Flight Controllers... Only one problem... It doesn't look as tho' there will be a SOLO, or a development of one, anymore! If you have one then collecting a spare one might be a good idea.
