What do you do when you when you don't want to talk to Alexa or pull out your phone to control your lights? What happens when guests invariably get confused about how to turn your lights on? What did you do before your home became a "Smart Home?" Enter the Philips Hue Dimmer. It easily attaches to your wall, with no wires to hook up or handyman experience required. Want to control things from the sofa or your bed? Fine, detach the remote and bring it with you. The included bulb is already paired with the switch, but if you have a Hue Bridge, you can choose which lights to control. I wanted it for my office lights (White+color). Very easy to change settings, and now I use the extra bulb for my bedside lamp. I have a Dimmer and a Tap. If you're trying to decide on one or the other, the dimmer looks better, has built-in dimming control (duh) with a smooth transition from 0-100% brightness, and feels less cheap. It will however, be slightly smaller than your normal Decora faceplate, so it's not a perfect match next to your normal switches. The Tap has more issues with connecting to the Bridge, doesn't offer out-of-the-box dimming (Hue Labs has an option though), definitely doesn't look right next to your other switches, and doesn't always respond to your taps. It does have the option to set scenes and with Hue Labs gives you pretty much the same functionality as the Dimmer. I personally prefer the Dimmer, and this little kit is perfect if you don't have a Bridge or want something with tactile feedback for your other lights and need another bulb for (relatively) cheap.Read full review

This dimmer switch works well for our intended use, which was controlling multiple lams in a single room at the same time. Quality seems to indicate it will last many years.

One of my biggest problems with the Hue system is that I and my wife have a hard time not hitting the light switch on the way out of the room. Clearly that kills the smart bulb aspect of Hue. These mount to the wall, and make it easy to just hit the smart off button on the way out of the room instead, Easily worth it for convenience. The removable remote is just a bonus. Just a heads up, I have two, one has an "ON" button and on "OFF" button, the other has an "OFF" button and a "NO" button. Kinda funny, but nothing to complain about.

The switch is pretty handy for those existing light switches that are awfully located. I like that you can take out the switch and use it as a controller sitting beside you in the home. The switch can control 10 lights bulbs maximum. I like the hue lights (the one which is included), it is too bright and has a good quality.
