This is a reliable machine. I read the instructions and only use it accordingly. This Honda generator worked for us really well when we were dealing with power outages last year resulting from hurricanes. I start it up every so often for maintenance and only run fuel that has no ethanol in it whenever possible to avoid fuel issues. It's quiet and efficient for sure. I ran my large Samsung fridge, TV, amplified TV antennae, lamps, computer off of it with no problem. For me its perfect for power outages. When I needed to run the washing machine I would just unplug the fridge and then plug it back into the generator after my clothes were done. Best economical gas generator I have ever used. I can also use it to run a 5000 BTU wall A/c unit if necessary.

Received the generator in good shape. Generator would not start. Removed carburetor from generator and cleaned. Bowl had hard crystals in it. Still won't start. Next step will be to completely disassemble and clean. Small carburetor ports are easily plugged. The generator carb should have been cleaned before selling.

We love our Honda EU 2000i Generator so much we bought another as backup. We live off grid, and use the generator for several hours daily to run a battery charger to charge our battery bank. It is quiet, reliable, usually easy to start, and economical to run. It automatically responds to load, so when there's not much running it just idles, and will run for hours on a gallon of gas. We do have to do occasional maintenance on it, but that's not at all surprising when you consider how much we run it. The automatic shutoff when the oil gets low is a nice feature, so long as you remember to check if that's why it suddenly refuses to run! It also has a switch on the gas cap that can potentially get bumped into the Off position, which will also keep it from running. In really cold weather it helps to give it a little pure isopropyl dry gas, and it starts easier if we bring it in the house and warm it up for a while before taking it back out to start it - but it's light weight (as generators go) so that's not too onerous a chore. It does occasionally need the spark plug cleaned or replaced, and we've done an overhaul on our old one a few times - but we've been using it constantly for ten years, so we really have no complaints.Read full review

The Honda EU2000i is like the fighter jet of 2000w generators available. It is one of the most expensive 2000w generator (alongside Yamaha 2000w generator) But it is well worth the asking price. As long as you do the easy maintenance (change oil, change the spark plug, spark arrestor clean) on schedule, the generator just won't stop working. It's also super quiet, you can hardly hear it from a few feet away, and you can certainly carry a conversation with it running. The eco throttle reduces engine speed on less than full load automatically to save gas and further reduce noise. I was able to run it for well over 10 hours on 1/8 load (a few fans and cell phone chargers) overnight, with gas still in the tank the next morning. Tried a circular saw (high amp device) and the generator is able to keep the saw running just fine. The EU2000i is able to run most devices except large power draw Window or Mobile AC units. To calculate the wattage of a device, use the rated amp times the voltage, you'll get the wattage. For example, a 10amp saw x 110v = 1100 watt. A window AC unit rated 13.5amp x 110v = 1485 watt. The generator is less than 50lb and easy to carry with the top mounted handle. All replacement parts are easily available online and at Honda dealers. You can buy a cheap generator that may work for only a few times before quitting, or you can buy the Honda EU2000i that will easily last a decade or longer with proper maintenance.
