this camera has the ability to take great photos by candle light with its night hand hold mode it takes 5 pictures at different exposures in about a sec then combines them into a single photo. the camera has also a smart remote function which will let you control this camera from your smart phone, I use this function with my telescope so I can shoot and see what i have shot form inside my house while my telescope is out in the 20 degree weather. I also have the nex 3 which is as good as the 5t but without the remote function, the ccamere comes with the remote function, the smart remote can be downloaded from the sony website. the camera can also connect to the web to download updates thru your wireless router. camera can be used as a point and shoot with the automatic setting or full manual for more creative control, love this little camera, I have 2 nikon and a sony a65 but love to carry this one for its size and weight.Read full review

I compared the picture quality to my Canon 5d kit lens, shooting a page of newspaper print at 15 feet, and could not see any difference. It fits comfortably in the hand. Other reviews complain that too many features are controlled digitally, not with physical wheels and buttons. I have not had that problem. It doesn't seem much different than my Canon. I bought this for backpacking, and it will be perfect. So light weight and cmpact. The one short coming is being limited to the digital display to frame photos. You must be the shade to make use of the screen, and if not in the shade, then you just aim and shoot, and hope you were close. There are several devices available to provide a screen for the digital display, but they seem to have their on limitations. I am still exploring options. The tiny flash is manual not through the lens but it works as well as any mounted, manual flash. It is a useful addition.Read full review
I previously owned a traditional APS-C sized DSLR with 3 lenses for many years. The only problem with that was the size and weight, which discouraged me from using it. After the purchase of Sony NEX-5T 16.1 MP Digital Camera with Black Kit PZ OSS 16-50mm Lens, I'm totally convinced that the Sony mirror-less NEX is superior in terms of quality, size, and weight. I have since purchased an additional Sony E 55-210mm lens and sold off all my previous DSLR and 3 lenses. I wanted to say that I'm as satisfied and happy as I can be.
This camera has been an excellent upgrade from my Sony DSC-HX9V point and shoot. I am a beginner when it comes to this type of photography and from what I was able to take pictures of, it has really performed superbly. I can just imagine what the pictures will look like once I get better with learning the features and such and with improved lenses. This camera was a great deal as Best Buy sells this for $699 which is about the same price they charge for an a5100 which would be somewhat equivalent. This was a refurbished from Sony and was had for $350 which is a killer deal - this was less than my DSC-HX9V when I bought it in 2011. It's a great camera for those getting into this type of photography. Sony did a superb job in their service and shipping. Thumbs up to Sony!
