Don't expect a lot of computer similarities. Office apps download but you have to pay constantly for everything. Apple apps download easy with your Apple acct setup and have all the useful ones you need. No plugin USB port and no way to save information unless you download to your laptop. I bought this for my wife and turns out that it was a mistake. Plays only her games. I could have purchased something half the price. I have mine that I use for various reasons and it works fine for me unless I need to generate word document , PowerPoint, excell, cad etc that needs to be printed or saved then I use my laptop. Again I probably bought the wrong thing for what I needed. My recommendation is to determine all the uses you will need before your purchase and research the product that will work for you. I had the original iPad for several years and needed an upgrade. The iPad4 is very similar in set up to my original but with many improvements. The 4G runs quickly and is easy to use. When I had a problem with my iPad getting "stuck" on a 3G tower, Verizon tech helped me correct it quickly and told me what to do if it happened again. The only issue I have had with it is I have had to delete my email and add it again two times because it would not upload new messages.
