chromebooks really offer best of both worlds, light weight and fast, just have to be able to connect to internet to gain full advantage of features.

I was so happy to get such a cheap deal and soon realized the laptop lived up to it's price. I received it and didn't realize I needed to buy a separate battery and a charger. ( Guess I should read more carefully) When I finally got the parts the laptop stayed on the Chrome book screen. I did a hard reboot and I finally got to the 'smoke dope' screen, eventually the mouse popped up, but that's all. Every time I restart it, it does the exact same thing over and over again. Don't waste your time, get a full functional laptop with all the necessary parts.

I bought this laptop so that I could watch streaming video of online sporting events on my TV, by connecting DVI and audio cables between the two. I'd been having trouble using my desktop for the same purpose, because my video card would not give me a full-screen picture, but instead cut it off in a letterbox format, which it would not expand to full screen even when I'd made all the correct adjustments in the control panel. The Acer laptop made this easy, simply by keying Ctrl+F4, the second of these keys being identified by a widescreen symbol. Now, I get an excellent picture not only from ESPN3, but also from subscription packages, and free broadcasts on obscure collegiate websites. I only wish the Acer laptop had been the first solution I'd tried.
Excellent little computer. Don't try to use it with dial up connections though because it will not work. Need to connect to the internet with Ethernet Cable or Wireless. That's a bit of a shame because there are many users that don't need ISP services or fast speeds where dial-up is still viable or may be the only internet connection available. Solid State HD is small but very much more reliable than mechanical HD's. So, Google's cloud storage is more necessary.
I love my Acer Chromebook, I have been using it every day since I bought it. It is great for browsing the web and light computer functions. Battery life is good and most days I get more out of it that what it's rated for. I am slowly trying to accept that the cloud is the future and local storage is less necessary. I do wish that most of the "apps" weren't just extensions for chrome.
