This is an amazing computer. I purchased it refurbished, but it seemed like new. If it wasn't for a few minor scratches on the case and a couple battery cycles, I'd have thought it was new. The computer starts up ultra fast, even without an SSD. Don't be scared off by the dual core i7. It's hyperthreaded and runs very fast. I have noticed absolutely no slowdown, and I normally use quadcore processors. Intel knows what they're doing with the i7, so don't be afraid of that. Not only that, but the processor is very energy effecient, so it doesn't drain power like a typical quadcore would. Windows 8 is what it is, but with a few tweaks, you almost don't notice it at all. Finally, the touchscreen and backlit keyboard is a nice touch. Usually a laptop with these features costs twice what this one does. Asus is a high quality brand that I'd recommend to anyone.Read full review
This computer isn't by any means top of the line but is a great laptop none the less, especially for the price. It handles multimedia and office tasks just fine and because it has both the Nvidia and Intel HD chips, it uses intel HD on the lower demand tasks to preserve battery life and then the Nvidia chip for higher demand processes such as gaming. The processor is also low voltage which helps battery life when the computer isn't doing too much, but do to the intel turbo boost can still run more demanding tasks when needed.
I've been using this laptop for a little more than a week and I can say that I am pleasantly surprised with the product. I bought it because there was a really good deal, this is probably the laptop with the best specs you can get for this price range. Coming from a Samsung with an AMD A6 processor and 4GB RAM I can honestly say that the difference in speed and overall responsiveness is really noticeable with the core i7 and the extra RAM(8gb). I do some light gaming and the Nvidia 745m has been able to handle everything that I've thrown at it at medium to high settings. I'm not really a fan of the touchscreen so I do not use it very much, although Windows 8 seems to play a lot better if you are using one. The downside of having a touchscreen is that the crystal covering the display makes it VERY reflective, even with the brightess turned all the way up. What is really nice is that it comes with a 1080p panel, and it looks gorgeous while playing movies and viewing photos. The downside of so many pixels is that many applications are not optimized yet, resulting in blurry text more often than what I expected. The overall construction of the laptop is very nice and looks gorgeous. The keyboard is silver and the trackpad is very responsive. Even though this laptop model comes listed as Q550LF-BB17T07 it is actually the Q550LF-BS17T21 which comes already updated to Windows 8.1 and it replaces the crappy Atheros Wi-fi module with an Intel that supports AC. This was a very nice surprise!! Overall I greatly recommend this product and I'd be surprised if you can find a better computer at this price point.Read full review
Great Machine! It is really fast for a dual core i7 processor 8gb of ram, required for multitasking everything move smoothly. Playing League of legends with the Intel Video card full 45 to 55FPS I have not tested nvidia card at full yet it does not overheat so far and it is not heavy. Keys are great, nice ilumination even in daylight. good screen resolution too. For daily use I recommend this laptop, last more than 4 hours. i got this computer for only 600$ so it was good for the money.
This is a very be hardly worthy of belief of the baby, too perfect, just like new, very high ratio of performance to price, the fourth generation Intel Core processors, full HD touch screen, full size backlight keyboard, feel very good, I like it very much!
