The Leica Summicron-M pairs a popular focal length with bright maximum aperture for flexible control and high image quality in a refined optical design. The relatively compact design is perfect for everyday use and it has a manual focus with a minimum focusing distance of 2.3 ft. and maximum magnification ratio of 1:17.5. The aspherical lens surface technology of this standard wide-angle lens provides for crisp, sharp images with a high degree of sharpness, contrast, and clarity while the f/2 maximum aperture enables working in difficult lighting conditions with ease. Known for its versatility and all-around performance, this high-speed prime lens offers outstanding imaging performance across the entire focusing range as an 11-blade aperture helps smooth out-of-focus rendering when working with selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques.

Great build quality, awesome picture quality...
The Summicron-M 35 ASPH is a classic Leica M lens, one of the finest standard lenses you can buy. It is admittedly expensive, but you do get what you pay for. It is sharp, contrasty (though not overly so) and quick/easy to focus. This is a lens that can stay on your camera as a go-to walk-around lens. The build quality is first rate (smooth focusing ring and clicky aperture ring) with useful hyperfocal scale. There are quite a lot of negative comments about the hood and cap, but while it is plastic, it is of good quality and the cap actually clips on with a satisfactory click, when you put it on correctly. I haven’t had any problems with the hood cap not staying on. All in all, very happy with the purchase.

. Great lens , shipped promptly. Just purchased a bucket list camera and it came with a 50 and a 28–and this is THE lens for my needs . Great clarity and gathers plenty of light for dim indoors as well as superb depth of field outdoors .

Good but not special
Good lens, well-performing on all levels, but lacks character. Provides "technical" perfect pictures but doesn't "paint" your picture. I had a Zeiss Distagon 1.4/35 before and that lens was way better at "painting" my pictures with its signature look.
