Out of all handheld gaming systems, the original GBA is still my top choice because of the ergonomics and removable batteries. Designed by a french artist and powered by Nintendo engineering - sturdy, simple, great button positioning and massive game library are just a few of the things that keep me tied to this system. Now its been enhanced with a backlit GBA SP screen to make it the system it should've been. Hinges are my bane - and every dual screen/fliptop system always ends up breaking, and a rechargeable battery will die out - but on a GBA you only have to worry about AA batteries which will be available for a long time, and no hinges so I won't worry about breaking the thing. Surprisingly the backlit screen helps with the power consumption - I'm getting 9 hours of play vs 6-7 on a non-lit screen. Guess the generation difference shows. Pair this baby with a flash card and it'll pay for itself. tl;dr; I'm bias - hate rechargeable batteries because it creates a dependency to the official parts. So that alone makes me love the system. But even without that, the GBA is the best handheld you'll ever find.Read full review
